TRAVEL ADDICT - NEW PLYMOUTH (TARANAKI) NEW ZEALAND
This country is simply beautiful no matter where you go you will be amazed by the magnificent scenery!
The Maori name for this place is Taranaki named under Mount Taranaki - tara means mountain peak and naki means shining. The 2,518 metres (8,261 ft) mountain is one of the most symmetrical volcanic cones in the world. Mount Taranaki has also provided the back drop for the movie - The Last Samurai
There are lot of things to see in New Plymouth like the Te Rewa Rewa bridge which looks like a fish. Te Rewa Rewa Bridge is a pedestrian and cycleway bridge across the Waiwhakaiho River at Taranaki . Its spectacular shape and setting make it a popular landmark :
Our next location was - Three sisters beach and I am sure you wouldn't have seen something like this before. Yes this beach has rocks in shape of elephants!
For spectacular views of the three 25 metre towering rock formations on the beach known as the Three Sisters, . There is another formation next to this place known as 'Elephant Rock'—it does look amazingly like an elephant. Here you can get spectacular photos of the rock formations and the white cliffs of North Taranaki. Interestingly, there were four sisters at the turn of the century, but the sea has gradually eroded one away.
The next amazing thing i could see in New Plymouth was there coastal walkway you can pretty much do anything there it is Ideal for walking, running, cycling or skating, the walkway boasts dramatic views and has numerous access points dotted along the way.
Beginning at Hickford Park, meander through picturesque farmland past the Waipu Lagoons and to the coastline to walk alongside the New Plymouth Golf Club before reaching Te Rewa Rewa Reserve.
