Wonders of Africa.#1 Kingfisher Safaris! (photos)

A kingfisher is a small lovely bird as seen swaying across the shores of the lake Victoria. The ones here are specifically pied Kingfishers black and white in color and habitually hover over clear waters before they dive for fish a distinctive characteristic about them.

Just across the same shores, pied kingfishers swirl and sway across a resort named after them, kingfisher resort in Jinja, Uganda, where I traveled last month with my boyfriend. Its by far one of the most beautiful places I have been to. The grass thatched cottages are the first eye catching aspects of the resort.

As we sloped down towards the lake shore after checking in, i couldn't help but notice the mountain bamboo just a few strides to the lake shore. It's an ancient forest bamboo used by fishermen to make fishing rods and also used to make firm boats. Other people around river banks used it for semi temporary camps at night.

The melodious enchantments of the various birds most noticeably the pied kingfisher and the alluring sound made by the water waves was what awaited us by the lake shore. I strolled into one of the local boats and behold, the view at the shore while seated in the boat was a sight to behold.

From, the lakeside, we headed for lunch and relaxed under the grass thatched umbrella like shades. The simplicity with which they were constructed and yet the sophisticated look that they portray just amazed me.

The next day as we were yet to set off to the source of R. Nile, being the camera addict that I am, I requested for one last Shot in the green clad compound that provides a perfect view of the grass thatched umbrella shades. various plants like aloevera, basil and oregano plants, and so many more are also grown there.
