How to rent a motorcycle super cheap and fast in Mexico incl. guide to cheap hotels! - Motorcycle road trip Cuernavaca - Acapulco Part 1
Motorcycle roadtrip from Cuernavaca to Acapulco (900 km/2 Days) for under 60$ incl. the motorcycle
As promised I will be writing about the motorcycle road trip I did with my best friend here on the left side of the picture. In total the journey was about 900 - 1000 km which we have made in just 2 days :)
As there were 5 days left until my friend would leave to europe we just had to do one last big adventure.
At that time I already had bought my sweet little red Suzuki ax 100 :) It has a 2 Stroke 100 cc engine with an output of 11 hp.
Because of that very purchase we have said to ourselves that we should just do a road trip on motorcycles, but there was one issue: WE ONLY HAD 1 BIKE BUT 2 TRAVELERS!!
So with only 2 days left to find some place or person who would rent us their motorcycle, we went out and asked as many places and people as humanly possible. At first we did it the obvious european/western way and went to motorcycle shops like yamaha, suzuki etc... and told them about our situation. Obvious enough they all turned us down with the comment, that they are not offering such kind of service.
Afterwards we sat down and thought about other places where someone was willing to close a deal with us. It came to our attention, that we should find individuals who work and maybe even sell motorcycles in their own shop "tienda". Again we passed quite a bunch of shops until we found a really nice guy who was willing to help us out :) His name is Riccardo and is 19 years old. He works on motorcycles since he was 14. He was able to bring us in contact with his cousin who was willing to rent out his scooter for a few days. We payed 700 MXN which is around 35 USD.
=> The key to close good deals is always talking to locals !
Now we had two bikes and were eager to plan our trip, which we did the same day. The plan was to drive all the way to acapulco and back in 2 days. A decision we took at 11 pm after a few beers :)
The route was simple, just follow the highway to Acapulco, there are 2 ways to do so. The first one is the simplest but most expensive one by taking the highway directly to our destination. Since we did not wanted to pay the tolls and were afraid, that we wouldn't see enough of the nature we decided to take the country road instead of the highway.
After the destination was set we still needed a place to sleep. We booked a hotel with a pool, air condition and parking included for 15 USD each. A price which is super cheap taking into account I booked the place the night before we left.
Booking.com really has lots of great deals and I recommend it to everyone who needs to book a hotel in a short timeframe, like we had to!
The next morning at 8 am we left for our big journey ready to explore the beauty of nature mexico has to offer.
On the next post, I will show you guys all the amazing things we have seen and experienced as well as our issues we had on our way. Stay tuned for the next post tomorrow.
I hope everyone has a great day! See you on the next post.
Spoiler: A gas station plays a big part on my next post :D :D :D
I love Yamaha. The best motorcycle in the world ;)
