Visiting The US and Canadian Expat Retirement Community Of Ajijic, Mexico, Contributed by @TangerineTravels

It's hard for us to believe that every day, people are watching our videos for more than 24 hours! We never could've imagined that we'd start getting so many people watching our videos in such a short period of time. We've only been posting videos for six weeks but are already starting to see exponential growth. It's nothing short of humbling and since so many people are dedicating their time, we feel like we have an obligation to put out high-quality videos. We don't have a video for you in this post, though. For that, you'll have to head over to @tangerinetravels.

We try to drive a lot of traffic to Steemit by sharing our Steem posts in niche Facebook groups which are mostly dedicated to US and Canadian expats who are living in Mexico.

To our surprise, we've had quite a few people reach out to us offering to help us in various ways. One nice couple who found us on Facebook offered to open up their home and allow us to stay with them for a few nights if we could make are way to the north side of Lake Chapala, near the expat enclave of Ajijic.

Close to the country's second-largest city, Guadalajara, is a gigantic lake called Lake Chapala. It was just a short drive for us from Guadalajara to get here (1.5 hours is short relative to the rest of our drives).

I realize this isn't the most impressive photography in the world but when driving into the city you see tons of green, rolling hills, and mountains. My poor photography skills don't do the scenery justice. Lake Chapala sits at about 5,500 feet above sea level and the surrounding mountains are as high as 9,000 feet.

These two photos are of the street that we're staying on. It's a nice, quaint neighborhood not too far from the lake. We're fortunate enough to be able to stay the next four nights for free with a nice couple from Ontario, Canada.

We're not right in the city of Ajijic, but in a pleasant little community a short distance away. Although Ajijic is almost exclusively gringos, this community is split about 50/50; half gringos and half Mexicans.

At the time of writing this post we've only been here a few hours but are enjoying our stay thus far. We don't really know what to expect in this city, but we're excited to see where things lead us! Tomorrow, we'll be heading to a taco festival, so stay tuned :)
