Facts: Capitals of Countries

Just some facts that I noticed that 80% of the people has mistakenly thought some city are the capital of the countries. Well, same goes for me, I did thought it wrongly until I made this research. Felt embarrassed but never mind, since people learn from mistakes. Lets head on to our main topic!

America

New York (X) ; Washington D.C. (O)

New York, New York; The world's economic center is the capital of America? WRONG! The answer is Washington D.C. formally the District of Columbia and commonly referred to as "Washington", "the District", or simply "D.C.", is the capital of the United States. If New York Big Apple is said to be crowded and lively, then Washington D.C. is a district for political center. White House, Lincoln Memorial, Pentagon and more popular buildings are all here. Actually the distance between both state is 4 hours by car, hence traveler mostly plans to come Washington for a one-day trip!

Brazil

Rio de Janeiro (X) ; São Paulo (X) ; Brasília (O)

Rio de Janeiro is the second largest city in Brazil, the most popular landmark is that Jesus statue hugging the city. It was once the capital of Brazil, also the venue of Olympic. While São Paulo is the first largest city, also the largest city in the Southern Hemisphere.

On the history of 1960, Brazil government moved from Rio de Janeiro due to economical and environmental issues. They found a empty virgin place at Brasilia and rebuilt an ideal capital, hopefully with the move of capital would bring huge development to the land.

Turkey

Istanbul (X) ; Ankara (O)

Istanbul as the largest city in Turkey is the most important city between Europeans, most believer come for pilgrimage. In the history it was the capital of the old largest three empire, Rome Empire, Byzantium Empire and Ottoman Empire. However, Ankara is the capital of Turkey today.

Canada

Toronto (X) ; Vancouver (X) ; Montreal (X) ; Ottawa (O)

Although there's an image for Ottawa, but it is not as popular as the other 3 cities. Actually Canada always have fights between Britain and France, where Toronto is the city of English and Montreal as the city of France. Not to choose which sides to favor, Ottawa located between two cities are chosen to be the capital. Another tiny reason of choosing Ottawa is because its distance is further from America, to prevent wars and fights.

Switzerland

Zürich (X) ; Geneva (X) ; Bern (O)

Although Zürich is the primer financial city, one of the top of the world, but during the voting session on deciding the capital, it came out that Bern has the double of the votes. However, Bern is astonishingly beautiful, not only chosen as one of the world's top quality city, it has also preserved over 800 years of vintage buildings. Moreover, Bern is the city where Einstein lives!

Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh (X) ; Hanoi (O)

Have you ever wonder if Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam? Actually, when the North and South haven't unite, both of the cities are the Capital cities. At the end, Hanoi became the only capital after Vietnam unites. Hanoi is the historical city whereas Ho Chi Minh is the industrial and cultural center. Ho Chi Minh has once colonized by France, the streets are full of romantic feelings of France.
