Travel Diaries: Arriving in Fowey, Cornwall
Hello all, so for this week some of my entries are going to be a little bit different, due to the fact that I am on holiday in Cornwall, England. I'm going to be writing a series of travel diaries, keeping you up to date with what I've been up to and how my holiday is panning out. Of-course I'll be posting a mixture of this as well as the typical type of posts you'd usually read on my blog just to keep things interesting.
Travel Diaries #Day One:
Our day started very early as we were planning to drive down to Cornwall during the night. I won't go into many details about the journey as that would probably bore you... I mean, there's only so much to say about a 7 hour journey.
When we actually arrived in the area that we are staying in, we had a lot of time to kill because our accommodation wouldn't be ready for about 6 hours. We initially parked the car and started to explore the village, which was quiet and quaint especially in the early hours of the morning. Despite most of the shops being closed, I noticed a fudge shop and a sundae shop which I knew I'd be taking a trip to later in the week.
My and my boyfriend Robin were famished after our long and tiresome journey so we decided to grab a bite to eat for breakfast. We chose a beautiful restaurant beside the river and I ordered some orange juice and pancakes.
Robin had actually visited this area of Cornwall before, and wanted to show me gorgeous beach just a few minutes walk away. We skimmed pebbles in the water and climbed on the rocks, avoiding the cold and bitter sea.
After we'd got bored of that, we grabbed a couple of bottles of water and headed up a steep set of steps towards the ruins of what once must have been a magnificent castle. The views were incredible. We could see right out into the estuary, where many sail boats were already sailing over the calm blue ocean.
For lunch we had Cornish pasties - I mean, we are in Cornwall after all. These were delicious however a pesky Seagull stole half of Robin's lunch. By the time we had finished our lunch, it was time to collect the keys to the cottage that we are staying in.
...And that's where I am now. Me and Robin are currently resting in our cottage. We haven't unpacked yet but are too exhausted to. We will be joined by my mum, Nana and younger sister Jessica in a few hours, however they traveled separately due to the lack of space in the cars.
So far the weather has been surprisingly nice. The sun has been beating down on us, however not too strongly. My face turned a little bit red in the sun today however. I'll insert a few more pictures from our day below:
