"Glory to work. Gas workers are oil workers"

Sightseeing in the city of Otradny, Samara region. The monument named "Glory to Labor. Gas workers-oil workers" is a tribute to all those who have multiplied the labor glory of Otradny. There was this object in the square for the recreation center "Russia" exactly 30 years ago, in 1986.

"High relief" - a kind of sculptured convex relief, in which the image protrudes above the background plane by more than half the volume of the parts being represented. Some elements can be completely separated from the plane. A common form of decoration of architectural structures; allows you to display multi-figure scenes and landscapes.

Work on its manufacture began in 1977. All the developments were conducted by specialists of the Togliatti branch of the Art Fund of the RSFSR. The authors of the relief are Togliatti sculptor IS Burmistenko and performer VM Kuznetsov. At first they planned to make a less convex image - bas-relief, but the price requested by the authors was too high for the city's leadership. It was decided to make a high relief instead of a bas-relief.

Making a high relief is quite a challenge. If you do not observe all the nuances, then the figures can become covered with cracks, or even fall off the wall altogether. The authors carried out their work on conscience, and in 1986 a solemn opening of this object was held at the celebration dedicated to Oilman's Day.

Figures of astronauts in the center as that do not really approach the subject of high relief. But according to the author's idea, this is a reminder that our region has made a huge contribution to the development of the space industry and the exploration of outer space.
