Biking in Cape Town: 2016 Toy Run and Whales!
Hi Guys,
It's been a while since my last post, year end work madness is upon us!
This is just a short post about the 2016 Cape Town Toy Run I took part in this weekend.
The Toy Run began in 1982 is South Africa's ( and the World's ) biggest charity motorcycle ride. There are literally thousands of bikes on the road and the aim of the event is to raise funds and to collect toys for disadvantaged children.
It has started to become something of a family tradition for us to take part in the Toy Run, the first ride being in 2008.

We arrived early at Grand West Casino, the start point of the rally, to meet a couple friends and to check out some of the bikes there. I think there must have been at least 500 + bikers!credit: My Instagram https://www.instagram.com/adam_ct/

Off we go!
At 9 am sharp we started our bikes and left for Kenilworth Race Course. We road out through Epping and then onto the N1, past the University of Cape Town and towards Kenilworth. The ride was really cool and mellow. Tons of people came out to watch all of the bikes ride past.credit: https://www.facebook.com/GaleMcAllPhotography/ with PIXbyGrant

Arrival
We arrived at Kenilworth Race course about 30min after leaving Grand West. Thousands of toys were donated to the organisation, these ranged from stuffed animals to sporting equipment, everyone really made a tremendous effort!

Home and a Whale!
Overall the day was very cool, there good food to eat and the live bands performing gave the event a great vibe. We decided to take the coastal route back home, you can read about it here

We were so lucky to see a massive pod of Humpback Whales having some fun out at sea, there were dozens of them!
Unfortunately only having a camera phone, I couldn't capture the awesomeness of the event!
Luckily Sky Reel had a drone out and produced this amazing video!
Thanks very much for reading everyone and cheers for now!
I love it, it drives me crazy
Thanks! :)
