Aerial Silks on a Sailboat! Featuring @abyni for Portrait Photography Contest!
Another "Throwback Thursday" post... on an actual Thursday! These are photos from when we lived and traveled on a sailboat (there are links to other boat life posts at the bottom) We traveled on the sailboat from Florida, through the Bahamas, down through Turks and Caicos and to the Dominican Republic. The kids swam with dolphins and survived a storm and a rogue wave that snapped the mast off. It was an amazing adventure, for sure! This post is going to be about yet another side to boat life... FUN and exercise!
This post is featuring my amazing youngest child @abyni on the silks. She started taking aerial silks classes a little over a year before we left on the boat. We found some silks to take with us, and thanks to my husband @serapium Abyni and Jaedin were both able to practice silks from the boat (and occasionally from a tree on the beach, if there was one that was tall enough and strong enough!)
Needless to say, the silks allowed for some pretty crazy awesome photo opportunities!
Both Jaedin @knightengale and Abyni are very self motivated when it comes to learning and practicing new things. I know they didn't get that from me, because I am horrible at being consistent with anything, much less something as strenuous and difficult as doing aerial silks.
Not to mention I have a rather healthy fear of heights and I'm not sure that those silks could have held up my weight at that time (I know that I couldn't hold myself up!!!)
Abyni is and always has been somewhat freakishly strong. As a child, she loved to climb up anything. She climbed the backstop at a baseball game when she was 10 months old... high enough that no one could reach her and we had to wait for her to climb back down (she wasn't freaked out at all!) She climbed up doorways like a little monkey and climbed up trees, onto furniture, pretty much anything she could find!
She was pretty thrilled when we found the aerial classes and it was a great workout for her. I think we need to find a way to get her and Jaedin back into classes, but MAN, it is not a cheap skill to learn. Maybe their steemit accounts (or mine) will really take off and money won't be holding us back anymore.
Maybe at this stage, I would actually have the ability to give it a try myself... although maybe I'll just stick with pole fitness for the time being!

Soon as I saw the first photo I was like, wow one of her daughters is very brave hanging like that. It looks like they are very dedicated to doing that. I hope you are able to get them back into the class.
Wow, that is certainly a skill! And on a boat, what an experience! Beautiful puctures, I hope you win!
Oh thats so beautiful! Gorgeous. Really right up my street!
