Singapore aka urban jungle

in #travel7 years ago

Singapore is one of the most rich and prosperous cities in the world. And when you have a low budget that can be a problem. U would think!! But no! Even if you have your budget as low as maybe just $100 for few days you still can manage to get the best out of city. So what do you do with your little money here?

Pay Attention.
First of all what you should know about the city that it is the fines city. Anywhere you go you can see red signs. So if you don’t want to fork on penalties you better look out for the red spots on the walls ☺ So for those who likes to cheer themselves with a burger or soda this trip might turn into one of the most expensive you would ever have ☺
What about chewing gum-you cant chew gum anywhere in Singapore, It is even forbidden to bring it to the country! So be aware.

Choo-Choo!!!
After being warned about these “surprises” you finally can catch a train after arriving to Singapore and rock the city.
Getting to MRT/LRT will be easy, as you don’t even have to leave the airport. Just follow the signs. MRT here one-way trip is $2. Will take you about 20 minutes to get to the center of city which is not that far I guess. Also once you are in the city its pretty easy to walk it and see the most of it. The hot weather and humidity might be a bit uncomfortable for someone but everywhere in the city you can see these big machines aka air conditioners. But once you inside u will find it really cool. Sometimes you might even feel like you need a hoody ☺ and not because its winter but because its +33C outside and +17C inside.

Where to sleep?
Singapore is expensive city so one night in the simplest and cheapest hostel might cost you easily 30 bucks. But! There is opportunity to stay for free. Since 2010 the government decided to popularize camping and in 5 park zones its allowed to do so. So if you look for real adventure all you will have to do it to get your camping ticket at the machine, which you can find in the city, like more than 500 of them all over the land. Or you can do it online axs.com.sg
However, even if you registered online, you still need to go to an AXS machine to print the permit within 24 hours.
Though there some limitation – everyone allowed to camp no more than 8 days a month. There are 4 parks where you can catch your adventure.
East Coast Park – Area D and Area G.
Pasir Ris Park – Area 1 and Area 3
West Coast Park – Area 3
Pulau Ubin
If you are planning to camp at East Coast Park, go for Area D which is closer to the eateries, bicycle rental shops and toilets with shower facilities.

What to eat?
After finding you a place to chill in the night you will want to get some food. Who wouldn’t! After all that effort you had to put into getting here you need to get you energy recourses.
You don’t want to look for cafes or even fast food to eat. All you need is to go to Maxwell Rd. Food Court. Maybe its not that close to you but believe me its gonna save you big money especially if you traveling not alone. I remember it didn’t take me to walk that long to get there… I was chilling at marina bay and from there it took me maybe only 30 minutes to walk. So you might consider walking there and who knows maybe you will find something cool on the way there ☺
All these places with noms have a letter sign which is A, B, C and D. It stands for the rating of cleanness. Where the A and B owners show it off as it stands for clean and hygienic service and food. But you wont see anyone having signs with C and D as nothing to be proud of yo! So remember – if you don’t want to end up with diarrhea look for A and B and skip C and D. The prices pretty low and portions are big. When I had my lunch there it was only like $4 and I got bouillon with some sort of dumplings in it and herbs and duck noodles .I couldn’t finish it all myself – was too much)
What about fun?
Once u all energized you want to go and check city out and have some fun. Singapore is great destinations for things like that and for free! Or almost free!
The city is very green city. So if you are a tree lover you will enjoy just to walk thru the area moving from one park to another or just go along the streets in nice alleys ☺ You will want to check “Avatar park” as I call it or officially Gardens By the Bay. Free entry. Park is very pretty both during the day and night. During the day u enjoy its greens; during the night you enjoy its “Avatar” lights.
Or! Go to Sentosa! Train to Sentosa will cost you $2.5. Even, though, to enjoy all the things might be expensive you still might find it interesting to check this island out without a need to waste a penny on all this silly things there) Especially in the evening there a free show, where metallic constructions with a touch of special effects and music perform for you.
Once the sun goes down the city shines with all its colors. All over the city you will find many concerts with its fine music and shows, musical fountains and great performance with special effects and its absolutely free! You will want to go to Marina Bay to watch amazing water show accompanied with music! I am not a fan of any museums but I love free music so if you are just like me you will want to skip that entire tourist path and just enjoy the city like locals do ☺.

Needless to say that Singapore is not a big city and once again expensive too. But if you plan it smart this trip might turn into one of the cheapest ones you ever had ☺

Sorry for your loss and congratulation!

You have been victim of a @GrumpyCat flag because you or someone else sent money to buy votes from an irresponsible non-GrupyCompliant service.

@pushup is acting irresponsibly by selling votes to people on their post in the last hours before payout. = 99.99% abuse.

GrumpyCat selects the best and most deserving posts to flag for greater impact. Congrats! Your post also earned a resteem by @GrumpyCat.

To know what voting bot to use, refer to https://steembottracker.com/ and use those that have 3.5 day or less in the "Max Age" column.

last hours before payout? Geez look when post been made and when the payout will be. u people insane or jealous or whatever

He is not saying that you used it in the last hour. He is looking to hurt the vote selling services that still allow people to abuse it in the last hour. And he think the best way of doing that is to go after legitimate users.

Just don't use a vote-buying bot that allows anyone to buy votes on a post older than 3.5 days. Anyways, I found you because of his resteem, so will support your future work if it is good.

A very well written guide ;) kudos....

Most interesting to read how a foreign traveller sight see Singapore.

Oh, I never knew that you could get by in Singapore with that little money. I always imagined it to be one of the most expensive countries for a tourist. Time to check it out for a potential trip during summer. Thanks for the info.
