First week on Steemit! Slovakia meet-up party! Part 03

I was absolutely thrilled as my fellow steemians @snow.owl and @whaledancemedia suggested to make a trip that we would share with all of you here! I love road trips, especially if they involve exploring unknown, treasurous places and hidden gems like the castle of Bojnice.

The guided tour started with a welcome cool-down on this hot summer day.

We went straight down into a tunnel system that lead to the bottom of the fortress’s well. The further down we went, the more moisture was released by the travertine cave, letting the water drops collect in a crystal clear pond.

One of the first rooms we entered after “reappearing on the surface” was the library. This room had something so calm and cosy, you could almost feel the royals seating there, enjoying literature in a room immersed in warm sunlight.

Another room that fascinated me was dedicated to Chinese art and furniture.

Here’s a beautiful detail of the Queen’s dressing room: a little treasure box for hair ornaments and tiaras.

To reach the living and sleeping chambers we had to cross a small court where we found the top of the well we had visited in the beginning of the tour. This is its proud guardian:

The first written record of the existence of the castle is from 1113 in the document of Zobor Abbey. It was originally a wooden castle and was gradually built up from stone as the property of the Poznan family in the 13th century.

Here are some shots that show the beautifully crafted wooden sleeping chambers and living spaces.

The tour ended with a walk in the tower from where we had a breathtaking view over the Slovak landscape.

After we made our way down the winding staircase we were ready to get some fresh air and headed to the nearby zoo, which had an unbelievable surprise in stock for me.

You guessed it right.
I almost fainted when I saw five huge brown bears hanging out in their terrain. Splashing in the pool and munching on their lunch (which consisted of fruits, vegetables and some dry bread) they didn’t care much about the people around them 😆

Meeting this tender yet mighty animal in person was a powerful experience for me which I am extremely grateful for!
