Sphinx- Egypt...Legendary creature..A place to visit.
A sphinx is a mythical creature which has a head of human and a body of Lion..Sphinx is located in Gaza, Egypt. The great Sphinx is also known to be "The terrifying one" literally : Father of dread.. It faces directly from west to east, it stands on the Giza Plateau of the west brink of the Nile in Giza, Plateau. It is known to be the oldest monumental sculpture in Egypt and is commonly believed to have been built by ancient Egyptians of the old kingdom during the reign of the Pharaoh Khafre.
The fact about Sphinx are still subject to fact and debate, such as when it was built, by whom and for what purpose. The common name Sphinx was given to it in classical antiquity about 2000 years, after the commonly accepted date of its construction by reference to a Greek mythological beast with a lion's body, a woman's head and the wings of an eagle although, like most Egyptian sphinxes, the Great Sphinx has a man's head and no wings. The English word sphinx comes from the ancient Greek Σφίγξ translated sphinx apparently from the verb σφίγγω translated sphingo, English: to squeeze), after the Greek sphinx who strangled anyone who failed to answer her riddle.
Over 900,000 British national visits Egypt every year with most visit trouble free but Egyptian tourism has suffered major setback in the past.In a bid to restore confidence to tourists, Egypt is set to launch a global advertising campaign this month.
The focus has been on such (negative) news even though they are sitting here, going to their work and dealing with the situation as if it is completely stable but this picture is not portrayed abroad,' Minister Hisham Zaazou said. He believe that (changing perceptions) must be a priority at this stage because the current views on the situation in Egypt is not good, so they must work on it.
