A walk through the past (a travel post)

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Ok so, I haven't written in a while, because I was on a vacation, I had earned some SBD's and the weather is all cold and wintery in India. so I thought why not go for a vacation. I really needed a time from my work. (Who doesn't)

This is an old picture of me, I used to have kinda long hairs.

As you may know, I live in Bhopal, a city in the middle earth of India. But I was born a little far from there, about 260 Miles north. in a small village near a town called "Bhind." when my father got a decent job they moved to Bhopal, with the wife & children. I was only one year old at that time.

I order to get there you have to get to Gwalior via trains, and after that its just motorized vehicles. I boarded the train at 23:48 and reached Gwalior at 06:30. A lot has changed since I was here last. the city is modernizing, and starting to develop.

A new shopping mall opened near the train station.

Trust me, when I was last here I didn't even find a place to poop or pee. yep, the city is definitely developing.

After a long day of travel and peaceful rides, I finally reached my old village, My birthplace. it's like the time has stopped here, its a bit away from the crowded city lights, and way-way undeveloped.

My uncle still lives in the old village, since they never left the village, my father tells me that they had lots of opportunities to move to the cities, but I guess they love the place too much to leave.

when I got there I was amused by one of my nephews, he actually didn't know me, but he was misrecognizing me with his other uncle (one of my cousins). He was so happy to see me, even though he didn't know me and he barely left me alone while I was there. I love Kids because they are weird.

Look how happy he is misrecognizing me for his other uncle.

It was so cold there and foggy that the view of the fields became awesomely amazing and also scary at the same time. If you ever played Silent Hill (first part) ? the view was just like that game around the village. after ten feets it was a guessing game. Straight from the horror movie :P.

My relatives told me that earlier that week from the day I arrived there, there was a horrible road accident due to the fog, and one person died.

A Walk around the village.

It's a lovely place to be, and a love time to be there. Did you notice the buffalos in the above picture? Yeah, That's right, even the cattle are wearing clothes. It's that cold.

In most villages in India, we still use primitive techniques to cook food and use the wood as a fuel.
And as I was warming myself near the fire, a lovely bird came to visit, I was surprised how close it came to me, so fearless, so friendly, It was an awesome feeling watching the little bird hopping around my leg. I guess the little birdy also liked the warmth of the fire.

The kids in my village home really enjoyed playing "Need For Speed: Most Wanted" kids are crazy. :P

Also, I got to meet my grandmother after a very long time, she was so happy to see me.
you can also see the happiness on my face as I am sitting beside my grandmother. I don't even care that I look so goofy in that picture. :P

And at the end a few pictures of me posing in front of the camera.

Thank you guys so much for taking the time to view this post.

Nice hat! Lol. I voted and commented.

Thank you for sharing this story. I loved to see the remote place of your birth and wished you would have taken more pictures. For me as a Westerner it is almost unimaginable to cook with wood and have some cattle standing around. I don't know if all villages should "develop". Are your relatives happy there? Do they long for something else? How are the kids influenced by technology as I see the laptop.

Your grandma made a huge impression on me. How old is she and how many children she gave birth to?

I thank you to give such a lovely insight and your nephew is the cutest kid in the world! Yes, children ARE weird and they should :))

its wondefully described. good post
