Ghent in Belgium is one of the most beautiful cities of Belgium. Often overlooked by tourist in favor of Bruges. But this lively city deserves a visit.

In the 14th century it became of the largest and richest cities in northern Europe. The city's Medieval architecture is very well preserved. Even with the medieval setting of the city, living in the city is still comfortable. Highlights of the city are the castle and the cathedral. But it's also known for the many parks.

The 'Gravensteen' castle is worth a visit. The most impressive story is about the 'Battle of Gravensteen' where students occupied the castle and threw out the guards, as a demonstration against the rising price of beer.
