Uttarakhand's capital Dehradun is a hill town in the foothills of the Shivalik ranges in the Garhwal region with two perennial rivers flowing through it. Dehradun finds immense significance as one of the more important educational hubs in India along with a Military Training College.
Dehradun is well connected to Himalayan tourist destinations and serves as a gateway to places like Mussoorie, Auli and Holy Indian cities like Haridwar, Rishikesh and the popular Himalayan Pilgrimage circuit of Chota Char Dham.
Other than the host of a vibrant terrain of valleys, streams, sceneries etc. Dehradun has a spiritual side to it with a number of temples as well as an exciting and adventurous hue with paragliding, skiing, river rafting and angling. It is also a popular picnic spot with gardens, parks and widespread landscapes. The places to visit here include Clock Tower, Chetwoode Hall, Tapovan, Tapkeshwar temple, Robber's cave and many more. Also ancient temples and ruins have been found in the nearby areas, which are almost 2000 years old.
