When you come to the Netherlands, windmill is a must-see. The most nearby windmill village of Amsterdam is Zaanse Schans. To get there, you may take the Connexxion bus 391 from Amsterdam Central Station. It departs every 15 minute. The journey takes 40 minutes. There are around 35 windmills in Zaanse Schans. The windmills were built for milling grain and pumping water. The windmills are opened for visit with a fee of €4. The weather was good and I was able to take some nice photo:

You may get a Zaanse Schans Card for € 11,50. With the card, you can get discounts when vising the windmills, crafts and museum shops.
