Why solo travelling makes you stronger and gives you an insight on who you are
#womenofsteemit
So I was fed up with life, i was dissapointed of the consumer society we live in, i was at the time living in London, and most importantly - i didnt feel alive. I was just living!
One night, while halfway a bottle of wine i decided i need a break. I was googling cheap flights and i always wanted to go to Morocco.
So yes - i bought a ticket and i went on a 1month solo trip around Morocoo.
Yes, a lot of you would say its dangerous for a woman to travel alone in a muslim country. But i did my research, and it all seemed manageable. I had the best time in my life and i was the happiest i have ever been.
So let me tell you what i learned from this adventure.
- In your darkest hour there would be help- you should never stop believing
I remember being kicked out of my couchsurfing, because the guy started hitting on me and i refused. I was on a bus station with only money for a ticket and no place to sleep for the night. I was crying, considering men being pigs, beingin a muslim country . Then i remember taking a deep breathe and repeating to myself that i refuse to have this happening to me and that good things are coming. Next thing i know, the man on the bus sitting next to me changed my life. - Strangers can become your best friends
When they say you meet the most amazing people at the weirdest places, they arent joking. I was buying tea from a local shop and then the owner invited me to drink with them (tea). There were a couple of foreigns there and we talked the whole night. It was so much fun that the owner asked that i stayed for dinner. I stayed till the morning there. From then after i made 2 solid friends in the most beautiful town on the coast of Morocoo. I always have a safe place there to live. - You are never alone.
When travelling in a group of people, or being a couple, u kind of restrict yourself to it and dont use the opportunity of meeting new people that much. Travellign solo is a whole new level. You can either decide to explore alone and indulge into yourself or you are basically forced to meet new people who are interested in your adventure. Where are you from? Why are you travelling? What do you do? Those are questions that i was asked like a 1000 times while on the road and were a start of a lot of life-long acquaintnaces. - Busess breaking down and delayed transport isnt the worst thing.
Bus breaks, you are late.. you miss the next bus. Car breaks in the middle of nowhere in a mountain. You have to walk to the next city to find spares to fix it and on top of it its raining.. Well just stay calm. Its life after all - keep on repeating- it's all temporary, it will get better. - People are kind.
They really are. We are all incredible humans. And we all help each other . And we all care for each other. - People are harsh.
And of course so you can appreciatte it even more, you would have the occasional rude and horrible people. You will get cheated. You will get your possesions stolen. Its life.
7.The places you find along the road are often more beautiful than the final destination.
Its happened so many times. I was headed somewhere and then i would end up somewhere else. Usually a place far more beautiful. - You discover you can do anything! You are invincible!
()
Not eating for 24h - I can do it. Stay in the same position for 12h in a bus without moving - I can do it. Get lost and have no net or wifi around - I can do it! Yes you become invincible! - You learn how to be a better version of yourself daily.
Whether its learning how to be more organised, or becoming better at orientation ( i must admit i used to suck at it) Everyday you face your fears and you become better!
10.Travelling is a desease!
Once you start it! There aint going back. You just cant wait till the next destination.
Wanderlust is contagious. I am sick. And i love it.
Great story. And so true. I really had to laugh at this part: 5. people are kind 6. people are harsh :')
Travelling alone is one of the best things you can do in life. I went to Australia for 5 weeks just by myself. Never felt more liberated as I did then!
heheheheh! well.... people are.... people! how was australia then? did you find kind and hars people :) ?
Awesome story. I may try some traveling by my own one day. :D
u should! who knows where will it take you! :)
True that :D
Indeed, reading your posts is extremely contagious.
aww thank you! i will keep on posting!
Totally agree. Travelling alone was probably the best thing I ever did !
Great post one of the beauties of travelling is meeting interesting people and going to unexpected places that's one of the best feelings, having no expectations and going with the flow :)! x

Love it! :D The car comment was very fitting ;)
hahah, well, a lot of series of unfortunate events in the past :)
This is invaluable insight into traveling. I second every point you made, from my own experience. I went around SE Asia with family and it was a drag much of the time. I rode my bike from Dallas to Houston, TX alone... much more fulfilling. People's kindness really comes out and miracles happen while you travel alone. You are right-- one will face trouble, but it's an opportunity for their faith to grow. Resteemed and followed!
people are kind! thank you for the kind words!!! aww you did biking! that should have been very adventurous! you should tell a story about it! :)
That is an AMAZING journey. I begin a 3 week road next month across the states, bottling with excitement for it from reading your post. Thank you for sharing. :)
thank you! im gald i have given you inspiration! :)
Amazing story! Yes I have done both (although different for a man) but much prefer lone traveling. It's an altogether different experience. My traveling with an Ex in India and Australia was ruined somewhat by have her there (not so much India). I not being horrible but the fact you could not explore a village or take that intriguing road as a spur of the moment decision was not there, as it had to be disused.
Great to connect with another writer, well I very amateur bout it would be great to connect an gain some feedback. Have a great day :)
thank you! yes i know, its a very different experience. you have to be alligned with the other person so there is a flow. the flow alone is tottally different than the one with another person! nice to connect with another traveller!
Likewise awaiting more. Yer I should really o some stories about my travels got a few
go for it!
