A hearty hello from a tiny European Country

Dear Steemit users!

I would like to greet you all warmly from a small country of Slovenia. Since many of you might not be aware of where Slovenia is, my first blog will be about my country and its beauties!

I will start with my hometown Ptuj. The oldest recorded city in Slovenia, has been inhabited since the late Stone Age and developed from a Roman military fort. Ptuj was located at a strategically important crossing of the Drava River, along a prehistoric trade route between the Baltic Sea and the Adriatic. Traditionally the area was part of the Styria region and became part of the Austria-Hungarian Empire. In the early 20th century the majority of the residents were of German extraction, but today the population is largely Slovenes.We, residents of Ptuj are known as Ptujčani.

For those of you who enjoy countryside and love a good sight, Bled is the destination to visit(amongst others!) It is a beautiful lake, with a small island with church on it. It is located in northwestern Slovenia.

And the last of many would be Piran. It is a town in southwestern Slovenia on the Gulf of Piran on the Adriatic Sea. It is one of the three major towns of Slovenian Istria. The town has much medieval architecture, with narrow streets and compact houses. It is also packed with lovely summer festivals and parties.

And last, this is how Slovenian border looks like, together with our flag, and yes it looks like a chicken! =)
