ADSactly Travel - The Iconic Borough Market & The Magical 9 3/4 Platform at King’s Cross Station to the Wizards land of Hogwarts
The Iconic Borough Market & The Magical 9 3/4 Platform at King’s Cross Station to the Wizard’s Land of Hogwarts!
If you love to eat, are a fan of Harry Potter, and you’re in London, you’re in luck! Borough Market is the place where you would rather be, and King’s Cross Station will get your heart pumping with adrenaline!
Before we start, please allow me to introduce you to a little background of the market.
Borough Market is one of the most renowned markets in London due to the ironic establishment in the year 1885. This market is populated with tourists from all over the world, but the undeniable charms of the market have captured the hearts of the locals too.
In the market, there are stalls set up that sell an array of artisan food like local cheeses, fresh organic produce, and also a broad spectrum of international cooked foods. However, always remember that quality pays a price. I can tell you that the things there are not cheap, but you’ll feel it’s worth it for its quality over quantity.
Anyway, let’s dive right into it! Be prepared to immerse yourself in this food heaven.
I think there’s nothing better to kick-start your day than a cup of smooth and aromatic coffee.
Monmouth is the only coffee shop where you’ll see a big crowd lining up for their coffee. The smoky yet aromatic coffee scent is so strong that you can already smell it from miles away. It gives all coffee addicts no way to escape. Without even the need for any mobile navigation, you’ll find it because of the smells and their strategic location, located exactly opposite of the entrance to Borough Market.
The cafe is so well incorporated with wooden concept pieces of furniture, from coffee trays to the chairs. The cafe strives for a simplicity that makes every customer feel like they are at home. It projects a spotless and comfortable environment for people to have a sip of coffee before working their way to catch a glimpse of the produce in Borough Market, especially during the peak hour.
One of their famous coffees is the in-house drip coffee. They grind the coffee beans you order and brew it right in front of you. Even though I would have loved to have that, I am a person who is obsessed with the “flat white,” and I can not stop myself from ordering it if I have seen it on the menu! All I can assure you is that their coffees are outstanding. They totally surpassed my high expectations of a flat white. I am still amazed every time I think of it.
Pretty, isn’t it? :)
After a morning boost, I definitely felt energized and was already looking forward to something savory to snack on. Then I found something I had been looking forward to, due to the overwhelming recommendation to try in London. It is none other than the “Scotch Egg.”
I couldn’t tell you how happy I was to have found this! They are so pretty! The runny egg yolks, crispy yet juicy sausage crust topped with fresh greens, seasoned with salt and pepper is just perfection. The combination of both the eggs and sausage wrap is the best creation of humankind; it’s so well balanced and satisfying at the same time.
With my anticipation to eat, I couldn’t stop myself from continuing to wander around, looking and spotting my next target to feast on.
Even though the crowd had poured in, nothing would stop me.
Then I spotted the colorful stack of smoothies that again I couldn’t resist. I had to have one to calm down my excitement of the overwhelming products that all the vendors were selling.
For example,
Those tempting and fluffy meringues were freshly baked, topped with a plethora of colored sprinkles. They got my eyes sparkling instantly! You’ll know how it feels when you have a sweet tooth too. It’s never too early to get some desserts.
Or this sinful goodness that caused me to break my dieting plan. Nothing beats a warm and crispy cookie that is freshly baked from the oven.
If you think the food adventure has ended here, then you’re wrong!
The best is coming, and I mean oysters! A freshly shucked oyster beats a million frozen oysters without a doubt.
Take a moment and look at that!! I bet you’re drooling now. If it’s not you, then I am. Imaging the plump, juicy, and fresh oysters that burst and explode in your mouth as you bite into them is like a volcano eruption that causes such a great impact on your taste buds.
The hero was behind the counter, shucking all oysters upon order with love, speed, and moves! Within a few seconds, your lovely oysters are ready to be served.
Look at the plump and juicy oysters, glistening and ready to be devoured by me. A few drops of lemon juice, a touch of house-made onions parsley vinegar, scooped and sucked in with one bite is definitely the best way of eating an oyster! Satisfying and indulging.
What makes it even better?
Of course, it is having it with a glass of champagne!
Also, if you’re lucky enough, you might find some pearls in your oyster :D
I could say that I left the market with satisfaction and joy. Also, with a gigantic rounded tummy that I was proud of.
As happy I was, I continued my journey of the day to meet Harry Potter at King’s Cross Station.
Fortunately, with the convenience of subways interconnected all around London, I was able to get there shortly with the comfy ride. That is when your oyster card comes in handy to solve all your transportation problems. If you’re wondering how to get there, just go to the nearest subway close to Borough Market, the “London Bridge Underground Station.” Take it directly to “King’s Cross St. Pancras Underground Station” which is a mere ten minute ride and four minute walk and you’ll arrive exactly at your destination.
Looking familiar? Maybe you’ve seen it in the films of Harry Potter. I was amazed by the architecture that incorporated so much royal influence into the building. Despite that it is the busiest railway station in the United Kingdom, the building was so well preserved and maintained to project its beauty to the public.
This is the Railway Express I belonged to all the while but unfortunately, I missed the train and stumbled upon the human land. Hogwarts, here I come! I was waiting to meet my principle, Professor Albus Dumbledore and to meet my best pals, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.
If you’re the wizard wannabe, this is your all-time favorite shop to go to. This is the perfect spot for you to source for the best wand, cape, shirt, and the magical speaking hat that decides which Quidditch team of Hogwarts you belong to.
With all these choices of wands, I am sure you’ll find the right one to unleash your full potential to save the world. May you bless us with happiness, health, and peace.
The interior decorations are absolutely stunning and left me speechless. The only regret is that I was hoping it to be bigger as the crowds kept flooding in, and I was almost suffocating and gasping for air. Only if you’re there early, you could possibly take better photographs and enjoy more.
As a conclusion, I definitely enjoyed my time over there very much with all these eye-opening experiences. I highly recommend you to go create your own adventure and make it a wonderful memory of a lifetime.
Until next time, dear explorers~

Thank you!
Well, I'm glad it's only (great) photos, or my diet would be toast. With a Scotch Egg, I'm thinking.
I almost hate to admit my fascination with Platform 93/4. I'm old and don't have any children to blame my knowledge on. :) I loved the books and movies.
Thanks for a wonderful post in an exotic setting.
My diet has been haywire too! Instead of having lean and salads, I just can’t resist any temptations especially when I’m traveling. If there are chances, I guess, UK is going to be on your bucket list :) thanks for the support, Tom :)
after i that oyster, it makes me find a restaurant here in davao who sells oyster. grrrr!
I know right, oysters are wonders! They came by hard but it's just so delicious. It's really hard to resist for not getting it.
We visited this market as a family, to eat there. The place is magical, full of charm. You can eat anything at a reasonable price (compared to what is done elsewhere in London ...). You choose your "box" and you find a bench in the sun, or sheltered from the rain under the hall, on the steps of a wooden building made to eat on the go ... You will not regret to be there ...
Absolutely! I love the garden the most. You’ll be able to get your cravings fixed and just enjoy it under the shelter during the bad weather or as you said, a bench to chill out under perfect sunny weather. Glad to know that you had a blast :)
You giys always put alot of effort into your posts.
I hope to get my posts as frequent and as informative as these.
You must have a great team to produce so much quality content every week.
Very nice to hear that :) We all tried to produce the best for all readers, be more informative and inspire writers on steemit to share their own stories and contribute to the community. Glad that it inspired you and hoping to see yours too :)
@explorernations Good article!
Reading this at 3 am unable to cook something is a torture xD
I thought pearls inside oysters were very valuable and extremely rare to find but as I see you are holding one and not celebrating to be rich, I assume I was wrong haha.
It looks like you had a blast!
By the way, I sneaked to your blog to stalk you a little bit, I see you don't post very often but it's worth it each one of your posts. The energy that you transmit has no price and I think everyone should be cheking your posts now and following you. You got a new follower over here (Not a powerful one, but a loyal follower haha).
My best wishes for you and your blog :)
That’s some really interesting comment that I haven’t seen for quite a while. It’s pretty surprising to have found a gem in our oysters, but unfortunately it’s too small to be valuable but it’s nice to have it as a remembrance. Thank you so much for checking my profile and I hope to produce more articles frequently if I have the time.
Amazing place! The food there looks incredible especially the scotch eggs!
Would love to visit the Kings Crossing Station with my wife as she's a huge fan of the Harry Potter books! Thanks for sharing your experience with us:)
Besides those eggs, never miss the opportunity for the fresh oysters! They are amazing! Yes, if you’re Harry Potter’s fans, be ready to be fascinated! It’s definitely going to be a blast :)
You'll appreciate the market more if you learn about its colourful past, and can place the venue and its buildings in a historical context. Read up on its fascinating history here. You'll discover how the market has been in existence in some form or other since before 1014; and how its fortunes were revived in the 1990s, when our current interest in artisanal foods began to take shape.. @adsactly
That’s absolutely, the rich history about this market is one of the reason of its unbeatable charm. People came all the way here just for the market doesn’t seems to be ridiculous at all. I did some read up on the history and I have to say that it’s exactly what you mentioned. Thank you for dropping by :)
amazing write-up and beautiful photos! wonder what’s the pearl ;)
Thank you Caleb, those lovely comment are so encouraging :) the Pearl is a surprise we found on our oysters :) it’s a real pearl!
I bet you this ionic Borough market is one of the best in the world though i have not been there physically but i will tell you am there now in spirit. The structures and edible things . To be frank the one that caught my interest more is that of oysters .
You wrote and I quote ,when taking of how better will oysters be served ........."Of course, it is having it with a glass of champagne!.... Delicious !!!. But a problem is that we don't have them much around the part of Africa I came from
Yes it is definitely one of best market, also having the oysters with champagne is a great pair. But, it might not be everyone’s cup of tea. Some prefer it to be with just natural tasting.
Wow! The famous King's cross station. Looks beautiful and attractive, i hope the visit some day, maybei will be able to find point 9(3/4) ,then visit Hogwarts ;))
That’s a must. But, be prepared for the crowd. I’m freaking out to see a huge line up just for photographs. Early is the key point over there :) Good luck~
You are very right about that, thank you for the hint.
More than welcome :)
