How I had a honeymoon in Europe for 3000$ ! (1500$ each)
Probably you think the answer is" being really cheap" but you would be wrong ,these are some things you should consider before you start planning your trip:
- Plan your trip with enough time in advance.
- Be flexible with the dates.
- Choose what places or experiences you could sacrifice in order to ensure those that are a must for you.
This is exactly what we did.
We bought our tickets on black friday , 5 months before our trip, we discover that entering through German cities could be really cheap, we book our flight to Düsseldorf, never buy a ticket for more than 600$, you can always find it cheaper.
Buy tickets to atractions online, that way is cheaper and you can access most places without waiting in a queue , without it, you will probably wait at list an hour to get into most places. We bought the Paris pass , which is a great sightseen pass, it includes so many things to do and places to go you probably won't have time to visit them all, there are similiar passes in most important cities of Europe.
You can also "improvise" , we search for free atractions, many of them are for free, for example the manneken pis in Brussels or simple efforts could pay off a great experience for less money, the queue for gettting to Eiffel tower is pretty long, so we decided to use the stairs and got faster than many people waiting just to use the elevator.
We started following many vloggers which gave great advices for good places to eat, if you do that you will know what foods, drinks or restaurants you want to try, that way you won't loose time deciding were to eat, personally we tried to balance our meals, for example having a small breakfast , a simple lunch and dinner at a fancy restaurant, that way you won't eat only cheap or expensive foods.
Nowadays finding a place to stay its not hard at all, we use apps like Hotel.com and the almighty Airbnb ,we had great experiences for great prices.
Finally,Transportation, we bought weekly or montly passes which gave us unlimited access to metros, trains or boats, with only one payment, Navigo card is a good option in Paris, you can find similiar cards in every important city of Europe, this could represent a major boost in your budget.Walking a lot is also very fun and helpful.
A great strategy is to travel at night , we use mainly trains and flixbus, which constantly has great deals, we got one which offered 5 cities for 99 €, we traveled at night so that way we avoided paying two nights(the day we arrive, the day we leave) at a hotel or airbnb, traveling really late to your next destination gives you an extra day(your last day) to enjoy each place, when we woke up we were ready to explore our next stop.
That's how we visited EVERY important touristic site in Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Venice, Florence,Frankfurt and Dusseldorf , with a small stop in Switzerland.
I hope this was helpful, if you wan't me share more hacks just upvote or comment this post.
