Bridging the Information Revolution to the Human Potential Movement
I believe the Information and Technological Revolutions called Industry 4.0 are a bridge to something much larger — The Human Potential Movement.
Technology is just tools meant to empower humans. And for the first time in human history we have the tools to empower each and every human on the planet.
But we have to use technology to transform our relationship with the way we see the world, the way we experience the world so we can live better lives, perform better and empower others.
Technology in it’s broadest definition is anything that enhances and elevates human health, happiness and performance.
I really learned about the Human Potential Movement (which I believe is the beginning of Transhumanism) from reading Flow Researcher Steven Kotler’s New York Time’s Bestsellers The Rise of Superman and Stealing Fire. And then reading Peter Diamandis Book on the New Laws of Economics called Abundance. And finally reading Ray Kurzweil’s book The Singularity is Near.
Technology is just a tool and an enabler and people have to see it that way, empower themselves and empower others so we can all win in the Digital Age. And in today’s hyperconnected age where information moves at the speed of light we are all already transhumans.
We possess Godlike technology today that is improving at an exponential rate. The technology we possess today would have made our ancestors and their ancestors believe we live in a Sci-Fi Futuristic Universe.
And I believe in a time where Anxiety, Burnout as well as Narcissism and Ego prevail, that we really need to wake up and loose our egos. We need to stop judging each other, we need to stop playing short-term games, and we need to start playing the infinite game.
Jack Ma, Chinese Tech Magnate and Alibaba Chairman has said that the future business leaders will possess LQ (Love Quotient) which I believe is true. If you look at a lot of business mavericks today there is no denying that there is a startling difference in the way they look at the world then most other people. They crave EQ, LQ and continuous improvement and lifelong learning. But more importantly they throw their Egos away and win by helping other people win.
I believe this is what we need more of in 21st century America or it’s not going to be a happy ending.
We are alive. And you can complain and be mad at others. Or you can drive progress, drive flow and help others succeed and not judge others. This is not that radical but it is hard to do and it’s a journey not a destination.
The technological singularity represents a convergence where through a hyperconnected world, everyone is connected from DJs to Tech Moguls, to Entrepreneurs, to Little Kids, to Struggling Parents and to Broke Millennials. But we really need to be more positive and forward thinking and throw our Egos away. Because I am telling you it’s a better, healthier mindset and lifestyle to approach and it’s the way I’m going to win in the 21st century but more importantly none of it matters if others don’t win along with me.
