Chase Strangio is counsel for the ACLU in the upcoming SCOTUS case United States v. Skrmetti.
I will say it again: it is an enormous mistake to conflate sex and gender. Sex does not dictate gender and gender does not dictate sex.
Male and female are sexes. Man, woman, enby, and a plethora of other variants are genders. A male body does not dictate a gender of “Man”. (Hence the existence of trans people!). A gender of “woman” does not dictate a sex of female.
Conflating sex and gender is as anti-scientific as is anti-vax and flat earth lunacy. Adopting the clothing, styling, and mannerisms of the opposite sex is a perfectly valid expression of gender (hence the word “transgender”), but it does not alter a person’s physical sex.
This continued push by progressives to render sex and gender synonymous should be opposed at every turn, especially by those who want to see trans people continue to be able to freely exist in this country.
If Strangio intends to argue before the court that sex and gender are synonymous, then Strangio should lose this case in a unanimous decision. That outcome would be a tragedy of epic proportions for every young trans person in this country and the people that care about them.
Progressives, stop this nonsense. It may well make you feel righteous, but it’s anti-scientific, and (I believe) actively harmful to trans rights.
