Here's 3 killer reasons why it's not easy to break away from your comfort zone and become more successful in life....
Most people want to improve the quality of their lives, have more money and more time, freedom and yet this seems elusive for most.
But why? Here's 3 reasons.
- Standards - Everyone has an unconscious level of what they are willing to accept as a standard of living. Without realising it you have most likely settled for a particular income AND in turn this has become your norm and a barometer of what you believe you are worth. If you have settled for the UK average then most likely you will be earning £28'000 if you are an employee, and around £45,000 if you own a business. But what if everyone around was making say £250,000 per year? What do you think would happen? Most likely you would begin to question the standard you had settled for and it would inspire you to make your current income unacceptable to you.
(YOUR NETWORK IS YOUR NET WORTH)
Fears - Many people accept a life that is less than they are capable of because they are crippled by self-doubt and fear. They tend to have a higher need for external validation from others and this leaves them exposed to fears of rejection, failure, loss, conflict, inadequacy, abandonment, ridicule and the unknown. This leads to settling for a life that's just OK rather than engage in the adventure that life can bring, a bigger home, family holidays, designer clothing, rolex watches you name it these things can become a part of your reality.
Coping Mechanisms - All of us have experienced moments of emotional pain and of course it's natural to want to avoid these situations happening all over again. As a result we can develop coping mechanisms whenever we feel stressed or challenged. These coping mechanisms cause us to experience the 3 D's. DELAY the inevitability of change. DENIAL that there is something that's not quite right in our world. DISTRACTION from the reality that our lives are not the way we want them to be. There are many types of coping mechanism behaviour but they can be easily summed up as stemming from one of 4 character types I call the shadow selves.
A. The Controller (dominates)
B. The Pleaser (is dominated)
C. The Analyser (retreats in their head)
D. The Busy Keeper (juggles)
