TopStep Combine - Week 2 - Day 4 + Weekly Review
Trade plan called for a long bias today. I did some pretty piss poor trading this morning, I let myself get sucked in to short timeframe scalping when that's not my strong suit at all. The ibL being taken out yet still kind of a failure had me a bit confused. Overall, I ended up getting chopped around a ton early in the day and had a decent drawdown (~-$300) building. Overtrading is very apparent in the number of trades taken today vs my usual.
I eventually realized what was happened and stepped away for a minute. I came back and reviewed my hypos and saw they we were pretty much right on target for Hypo 1. With this is site I looked for the stats to lean against. The obL break + ibF made things weird but it's been a week full of neutral days so might as well go with it.
I decided to lean against the long bias for a onH break after the ibH was taken out. This trade ended up saving my ass for the day. It took forever and I was able to campaign my way out of drawdown by scalping on the way up.
It's a green day but it might as well be red because I didn't execute or follow process well during the morning at all. The come back goes to show how much following your plan pays off though.
With end of day hindsight I wish I would've held on to the long looking for a neutral extreme day but overall I'm happy with the fact that I got out at the onH since that's what stat I entered against.
Week 2 Review
I'm a bit frustrated with all the low profit days this week. I'm ended the week under 1R daily risk. I should've held a few more trades to target and this could've been a 2R ($1k) week. It probably wouldn't have been much more though without increasing risk as the days simply don't mesh well with my trading style.
Overall I'm not super upset about the week though. It was a weird week, Monday was a holiday and every day except Monday went neutral, which is rare. It was a very balanced week and I played defensive well. In the past this is a week that would've decimated me, yet I'm ending this one green. I actually didn't have a single down day this week.
Small and consistent FTW.
