Marrakech is the ninth best destination in international tourism

The city of Marrakech has been ranked among the top tourist destinations in the world by ranking 9th in the Tourism Travelers category of 2019.

Marrakesh came in ninth place due to the increasing demand from tourists from different parts of the world, while the British city of London ranked first, followed by the city of Paris French, and came to Rome, Italy in the third rank.

Marrakech was the only city in the Middle East and Africa to be ranked as the top ten tourist destination in the world.

Marrakech ranked ninth among the top 25 destinations in the world, according to Travelers Choice, as the "Red City" is a fascinating place to visit, with a number of old markets, parks, sports, palaces and mosques.

According to the same source, what makes the city of Marrakech unique and makes it a destination for tourists, is the popular character of the old neighborhoods, where dominion prevails in public spaces, the beauty of the gardens, especially the famous Majorelle Park, as well as the historic mosques in the city.

The number of tourists visiting the city of Marrakech is increasing steadily annually; as of November of the year 2018, more than 2.4 million tourists. The number of overnight stays is also rising, recording more than 7.2 million overnight stays.

The cities of Marrakech and Agadir occupy a 60 percent share of the tourist market in Morocco. In 2018, Marrakech recorded a 10 percent increase in the number of overnight stays, and Agadir recorded an 8 percent rise, according to Tourism Observatory figures.
