The Book of Hebrews - Mystery

The author of the Epistle to the Hebrews has remained a mystery for almost two thousand years.

Origen, an early Christian scholar and theologian, told of his ignorance of the true author of Hebrews. A number of theories regarding the author’s identity have been put forward over the years, all of them containing errors.

It is agreed that the book was written prior to the destruction of Jerusalem in the year 70AD. Paul was executed prior to Nero's death on 9th June 68AD. Paul always put his own name at the start of each of his Epistles.

Some churches would lead you to believe that Paul had authored the book. While the King James Bible tells you that Timothy authored the epistle.

The author of Hebrews never signed their name to the epistle, unlike all the other letters by the Apostles, except John.

The author seems to have an intimate knowledge of Hebrew and is very well versed in the Torah and Tanakh. Possibly a temple trained priest, scribe or Pharisee, a well educated Disciple.

The author mentions Timothy would accompany him from Italy to Jerusalem, (important point).

He speaks of Christ as though he knew him personally but often wrote from a third-person point of view.

Although the 1611 King James Bible tells you who the author is, it is also contradicting itself.

Let us look at the last words of the book of Hebrews comparing different Bibles:

Aramaic - Heb 13:23 But know that our brother Timotheaus has been released, and if he comes soon, I shall see you with him.
24 And invoke the peace of all your Leaders and of all The Holy Ones. All of those who are from Italy invoke your peace.
25 Grace be with all of you. Amen.

DRB - Heb 13:23 Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty: with whom (if he come shortly) I will see you.
Heb 13:24 Salute all your prelates and all the saints. The brethren from Italy salute you.
Heb 13:25 Grace be with you all. Amen.

Now, look at what they did with the King James Version.

KJV - Heb 13:23 Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty; with whom, if he come shortly, I will see you.
Heb 13:24 Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints. They of Italy salute you.
Heb 13:25 Grace be with you all. Amen. Written to the Hebrews from Italy, by Timothy.

If we had gone straight to the KJV Bible, then we would all assume wrongly that Timothy was the author, even though it contradicts itself as the translators just added their own assumptions and words to the end of the Book of Hebrews...

Rev 22:18 For I testify to every one that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book: If any man shall add to these things, God shall add unto him the plagues written in this book.

Interestingly, there is 1 Bible Code for "The Book of Hebrews" occurring in the Torah, with an extension:

"Progenitor of The Book of Hebrews"
