Unfortunately, most people sympathize with a friend only if they benefit from the success of a close man. The above is an ideology, but it is not necessarily impossible. :)

I find that few people truly celebrate the success of a friend, especially if it is greater than their own. I struggled with that very thing myself, but finally reasoned out the self-loathing inside me.
They became the inspiration for you to develop. When they grow, they will push you to evolved. Because it is sweet when friends are capable of success together.
