The most popular tourist attraction in Tokyo! Mitaka no Mori Ghibli Museum
The Mitaka City Municipal Animation Art Museum (Mitaka no Ghibli Art Museum) opened in Heisei 13 (2001) as the first animation art museum in Japan, consistent with the musical institution concept of Tokuma Shoten Studio Ghibli Division (then) and Mitaka City. Hayao Miyazaki, the global animation director, is the draft plan. The building itself is thought to be like a movie, and the inside of the hall is a multilayered and maze-like building. The exterior is composed of curves and the outer wall has been familiar with the pine grove of Inokashira Park with the passage of time as a unique building of a colorful earth wall including red and yellow. As stated in the catch phrase of "Let's get lost," together, visitors can see the inside of the hall while getting lost in any order.
The contents of the exhibition range from animation studio-style exhibition room called "place where film is born" to "cat bus" where children can ride. Not only to see but also to experience is the exhibition not only for children but also for adult visitors. In the video exhibition room "Satoshi Zodi", the original short films of the museum are screened, and the works are replaced according to the time. There are also many visitors from foreign countries, which will highlight the popularity of Ghibli. In addition to the exhibition room, the entire facility, such as a stained glass depicting beautiful frescoes and ghibli pieces depicted on the entrance ceiling, and a passage to unexpected places, is discovered throughout the facility. It is a pleasant museum where both adults and children get lost.
