Toketee falls Oregon

Toketee Falls is a stunning waterfall located in the Umpqua National Forest in southern Oregon. It's one of the most picturesque and well-known waterfalls in the state, thanks to its unique two-tiered cascade and striking basalt columns that frame the falls.

The name "Toketee" comes from the Chinook jargon, meaning "graceful" or "pretty," which is fitting given its scenic beauty. The waterfall drops a total of 113 feet (34 meters), with the upper tier plunging 28 feet, followed by the lower tier’s dramatic 85-foot free fall into a large pool below.

A short, well-maintained 0.4-mile (0.6 km) trail leads visitors to a viewing platform that provides an excellent vantage point to admire the falls. Along the trail, hikers can also enjoy views of the lush forest, moss-covered rocks, and the North Umpqua River.

Toketee Falls is accessible year-round, but the best time to visit is in the spring or early summer when the water flow is at its peak. However, the falls are equally enchanting in the fall, surrounded by vibrant autumn colors, or in winter, when the surrounding landscape is dusted with snow.
