This ICO token starts their sale in about 1 day. They are giving away 100 tokens for signing up for their email alert and are offering a presale with an additional 500 token presale bonus. Don't get too excited because the white paper lists a circulation of 1,530,000,000 and total supply of 3,000,000,000 tokens. But as I explain further it could be worth more in the future.... and its 100 free tokens.

I don't think this one is a scam but I'm not sure the high percentage that the team controls will be favorable with the mindset of what investors are looking for in cryptocurrencies. A crytpocurrency that is more decentralized is more favored by investors. This one is 49% percent controlled by the Datum team. White papers reference allocation of tokens to the team as follows.

29% of minted DAT tokens will be held in a reserve by the Datum Network GmbH for community initiatives, user growth, business development, academic research,and future market expansion.
20% of raised DAT Tokens will be allocated to DAT core developers, founders and advisors with sales restrictions spread monthly over 2 years as incentive to ensure long term alignments of interest and commitments towards the future value of the tokens.

Datum is advertised to individuals to secure your personal data but I personally feel it will be more utilized by larger business. Many business operations will find Datum useful as they spend a large portion of their budgets on secure storage of data. If you ever reached your data cap and had to pay an online service to keep a backup in the cloud of your family pictures, PDF's, or video files imagine the costs for large businesses to keep files backed up.

The token may never reach a value of more than a dime but if they are giving 100 tokens for an email sign up, I'm signing up because who knows? They could turn out to be the next VMWare or Rackspace. Sign up and get 100 tokens, have another email then sign up again. Hey, why not?
