Topic: Mermaid Healer: Water Splinter Gets Back-line Heal Through "Triage" Ability

The Mermaid Healer

3 Mana
On Max Lvl: 1 Magic, 3 Speed, 5 Health

TriageStrengthenCleanse

Triage Ability

The Mermaid Healer is the only card in the Splinterlands so far with the Triage ability, which was introduced with the new promo cards from the Winds of Change collection.

Unlike the Tank Heal ability, which only heals the front position, and the heal ability, which only targets itself, Triage cares for the rest of the team.

The official ability text reads:

Heals the friendly back-line Monster that has taken the most damage.

One card in the second row, including itself, will get a heal. And that is a big deal. Particularly in lower leagues, where the damage of the cards is low, this turns out to be of immense advantage. But also in high levels games this can come in handy, in some situations.

Combined with a +1 Magic Summoner and you even have a cheap damage dealer, that can heal itself from magic reflect (assuming no other back-line monster gets more damage).

Strengthen Ability

All friendly Monsters have increased Health.

I had some very interesting matches with this one and 3 Mana is a steal, as Strenghten alone will benefit the entire team already. The Sea Genie was previously the only card in the Water Splinter with that ability - for twice the Mana.

Because of the double strenghten and triage ability for such a low mana price, I believe we will see this card much more in the future.

Cleanse Ability

Removes all negative effects on the Monster in the first position on the friendly team.

Cleanse is also a new ability, that the Mermaid Healer is sharing with the new Silvershield Bard for the Life Splinter, a fellow card from the Winds of Change collection.

I haven't seen its full potential yet. It removes debuffs from the tank position, which probably includes debuffs from summoners like Zintar Mortalis (-1 Melee Attack) and The Peakrider (-1 Range Attack).

This will come in handy, when abilities like Affliction (When a Monster with Affliction hits a target, it has a chance of applying Affliction on the target causing it to be unable to be healed.) and Demoralize (Reduces the Melee attack of all enemy Monsters.), which both were introduced with the Winds of Change collection as well. These cards are still new but they will likely find their ways into players play styles.

Conclusion

The Mermaid Healer is an awesome new companion for the Water Splinter and abrings an entire new gamplay to the battlefield. Its true potential is yet to be seen, but it is definately bringing some new flavor to town. The three abilities are a huge benefit for many decks and are an easy pick for 3 Mana.

I understand Cleanse removes effects caused by opposing monsters, (like Weaken) but not effects imposed by opposing summoners.
Getting rid of Weaken, Slow, Affliction and Poison (Just off the top of my head) is a huge deal.
I think you're right and we're going to see a lot more of her.

I have tested her a lot in the past week and she is really making a huge difference. She stills heals the backrow, when she is already moved to the front. Combining her with Gold Dragon at 2nd position is a really nice strategy. Even if the Gold Dragon hits a Magic Reflect monster, it gets a double heal each round. This also can work well with the Red Dragon at 2nd position, who will throw back ranged snipe attacks and heal himself together with the Mermaid. The 3 mana are easily spend on her!

What are your combos with her, so far?

This card is a huge deal for blue, which was very strong splinter already, if the Splinterlands team keeps printing magic attackers for blue it's possible to see a disbalance in the metagame. Taking in consideration that this card and the Dwarven wizard are great cards they could need to print more cards with silence or void very soon.

Still havn't come across this card much, didn't know it healed it's self and another in the back row. If there are only two card in play for a team will it heal itself and the tank?
