I moved to Florida nearly 2 years ago and had a daytime encounter with an armadillo as well. It was kind of silly at the time but I thought they only lived in Texas for some reason. LOL
Beyond the holes they dig, the other reason they are hunted is because they can carry and spread leprosy. YIKES! It's actually rare but I wouldn't want to take the chance.
