Why You Shouldn't Shame Disabled/Chronically Ill Folks Who Don't Work
This is why you shouldn't shame disabled folks unable to work due to
their disabilities. Oftentimes, you may be met with "you can do X job" which the
person deems easy/low effort.
It's not just performing a job. One person can have trouble getting hired.
Other folks would miss so much work due to needing time off
for appointments/flares. Abled-bodied folks wouldn't last missing work
so frequently. How can we expect disabled folks to hold a job?
A "friend" judged me after telling her I couldn't work due to
my disabilities back in 2016. Everyone is different and has different struggles
that you may not know about.
The application process weeds out disabled folks eg "must be able to life 30 LBS"
when the job doesn't call for lifting.
