I have been all for CPU based mining since I turned a Samsung 1 into a Linux BTC Miner. Now, better thread based processors are allowing for more professional hash rates at a lowered all around cost.
The newer AMD T.ripper CPU costs an average of 0.60/hour to run at full speed.
