Its actually quiet simple.
- Indicating is not optional. You have to indicate before you change lanes.
- You can only change the lane if there is a big enough gap to pull into. Other driver dont have to make room for you because you indicated. Exception is a sign posted zip system spot.
Thats just a matter of traffic regulations, not of the personality of the other drivers. Of course you can do whatever you like, but if that causes a accident, you 'll take the blame.
Yes, you always indicate. But I was in someone's car and he was reluctant to give an immediate indication, thinking that it would be harder to get across. He was concerned that drivers wouldnt let him in.
I have met a few people who thinm the same. I think it is easier to show your intentions and work it out accordingly.
Well, without indicating you are not allowed to change lanes anyway, which makes further conciderations unneccessary. The whole point of it all is, that you can show the police that you have done everything according to the law, if it comes to a accident.
