Dog walk diaries: off and running
Back at work. Actually, I never completely stopped but as summer means most of my clients are on holiday, work is drastically reduced. August is a month of chasing work until Christmas time, if not for the next year.
Chasing is not my strong suit and even though I really enjoy what I do, this part of it is not enjoyable. It is necessary though. It is rare, if not impossible to be able to do a job where all tasks are liked.
One benefit for me in this is track record, which means I don't generally have to cold-call for customers as word of mouth creates connections. I am still not great at selling myself to strangers though.
Throughout my life, relationship building has been more of a slow process of getting to know a person for the long-term, not just for the time they can offer me benefit. What is interesting I have found is I do enjoy getting to know people so even though I am not great at selling myself, getting to know them does the selling for me.
It is a much longer process that doesn't guarantee reward at the end but, it is definitely more valuable than churning and burning and working a numbers game. Sometimes it pays off financially, often not but, I am yet to get to know someone who has been valueless.
Off to work.

Have a great day Taraz. I wonder how people are so naturally good at marketing themselves sometimes..
I wonder too. I think for me, I have always been one to take the back seat (something I should write about perhaps) and it has become a habit not to push myself. There is also likely a generational thing with the younger generation shouting about themselves into the void and calling it personal branding.
Sometimes they buy the person without even knowing that they bought the product also. Hang on till...Christmas.
I think the person (depending on product) is the more important component. Similarly to here, the personality is more important than the content they produce. The content is an extension of them.
It can be a bit stressful to wait until the next year, but at least you like and enjoy what you do.
I enjoy some of what I do :)
Relationships are everything. If you have a strong relationship you will most likely be the first one to get the business. it may not be for now but could take 6 months or longer. Bit like your followers, it takes time to get a proper follower.
hi @tarazkp you are absolutely right relationship building has been more of a slow process of getting to know a person for the long-term, not just for the time they can offer me benefit.
@tarazkp yes truly, relationships are build very slow but once they are build they help and benefit throughout our life. What do u say?
