Cracks in the surface
The times they are a changing, and it isn't hard to see if you know what to pay attention to. When it comes to onboarding the philosophy of decentralization, our greatest ally is the failure of the centralized services, government, corporation, bank, religion.
I am including religion because even though a lot of good can be done through the belief and social structure, their failure is to not consider themselves accountable for the harms. Some go to great lengths to systematically cover up their ills. These will decentralize also.
What happens when centralized systems fail to provide? Stakeholders look for alternatives. The more reduction of free speech, the more banks that collapse and get bailed out, the more governments prove their inability to be able to provide adequately, the more corporations squeeze and extract or value, the more unsatisfied we become, the more people ask;
Is there a better way?
Is there a way that we are able to satisfy our needs and still be sensitive to the needs of the greater whole, a way we can trust strangers en masse without sharing a flag, a belief, an ideal?
This is where out is slowly leading isn't it? A point where we trust someone over seas we will never cross more than a government charged with providing our security and opportunity. No nation wants to lose its power and will use its own people to defend it. No individual needs the power of a nation.
I find it interesting that what will continuously feed the decentralized system is an ability to do what was promised by authority but by definition, they could never deliver. It is impossible for a centralized and limited opportunity organisation to provide all fair opportunity as they can never be sensitive to the individual. A rule that helps one flourish is an oppressive regime to another.
We are far from solving this process but we are getting there a step at a time, returning localised control to individuals and empowering them to act globally if they so choose.
Most can see the cracks in the surface but pay attention and they paint a much deeper picture. The centralized system is being undermined, firstly by the greed inherent in authoritative organisation and secondly, by us. What some of the greedy do not necessarily see yet is that they are the bag holders of shitcoins in the future, debt laden, centralized shitcoins that no one wants to touch ever again. They are stackers stacking the future valueless.
Their greed is their downfall because it forces a continual crush of the people in the economic vice until no matter what they do, they are unable to support themselves. At this point, they turn to alternatives and what starts as a trickle out of the system becomes a flood.
And they flood into am alternative. It isn't perfect but it will become more stable and robust the more who mate the switch until it is both an alternative option, it is the core structure. A strangling fig tree that engulfs its host until it can support itself with a broad trunk made up of many roots, and the central host withers and crumbles within. Broad, tall, diversified.
It is interesting in some ways that while diversity of investment is recommended to limit risk, few recognise that the point of weakness is that all of their investments are tied to a single point of highly controlled and centralised currency.
Too big to fail has historically never held true, not once. The collapse isn't always swift mind you, empires take time to deconstruct, perhaps self-destruct is a better term. Centralized systems by definition eat themselves as they require progress, consumption and growing resources to satisfy. In time, they all lead to a debt cycle and eventually, they all become untenable and increasingly volatile.
These are exciting times we are living in as it is at this point that the cracks are widening, the depth of problems are getting seen, more are able to understand the challenges and, there is am alternative system in the pipeline. There isn't just complaint to authority to do better, there is solution to authority that can do better.
From order comes chaos, from chaos comes creativity. We know and see the problems, the many solutions needed are on their way, gathered from the chaos.

There should be. I mean we're all people aren't we? And I think there is a way to do that, because why would all these "leaders" of ours work to drive us apart if there wasn't? If I wouldn't trust you anyway, it would be pointless for a third party to push me away from you.
And secondly, we're trying. All these flags, beliefs and ideals are our desperate attempts to heal the fractures between us as a whole. So again, it must be somewhere deeper down, this need to connect and to trust.
I don't know how well this system of ours will succeed, but one can only hope and do his/her best I suppose. Very well-written, sir!
This is what most people don't recognise I think. While we are trained to fight for a centralized flag or belief system, we are missing the oportunity to learn and develop the tools that actually solve our problems.
Great piece to celebrate the 10 years of the bitcoib whitepaper which has put forth a foundation of decentralized approaches to create a more trustworthy and efficient governance of not only monetary systems but of organizations and communities. The fact that 10 years later we are in this social experiment of Steem demonstrates the growing interest of such concepts!
Great. Great piece of advice to take in and consider. Most especially the failure of government. When there is a failure in government, there tends to be more failure in the economic of the country, the citizen and most of all the country at whole
