Rage on... and own it!

Last night I participated in a full moon burning ceremony, where I succinctly recorded my sadness and negative, unexpressed emotions on paper and proceeded to set the intention of releasing those negative energy ties. After a couple of deep breaths, I lit the paper on fire, basking in the late night glow of the full moon and watched as those fears, deep rooted insecurities and even some of my anger burned in a hot flame until there was nothing left but ash and the smell of smoke. Something in the act truly felt like a release, like the weight bearing down on my body and the pressure in my heart and in my mind, simply, lifted as the fire burnt out.

What I love about this quote is that it reminds me to accept even the dark, sad and ugly side of myself. Too often I bury these feelings of unworthiness, anger, frustration, anxiety and fear, simply because I'd rather burden myself than reflect or project my sadness onto the world. I reject the thought of expressing that side, I don't want to be judged, misunderstood or pitied. What I failed to acknowledge is that bottling up and carrying on like this not only deepens the pain, but you subconsciously project those negative attitudes and feelings onto the world around you anyway. Subliminal messaging is powerful and I realized that if I truly want to live a life filled with love and acceptance rather than be driven by my ego, I need to learn to shed the old, negative patterns, own the dark, ugly and angry, then consciously shift that energy to adopt new patterns, develop new thoughts and replace the old with new love and light. My hope is that everyone can find a way to rage on when they need to, own their anger and raise their vibration to welcome a transformation that organically comes as the sun rises after the storm.
