The economy of Steem is still building its foundation. When you consider that value is being created by engagement and development of DApps here in the ecosystem it leads me to believe that it is only a matter of time when the value begins to be realized through the community supporting it. The balance of influence is slowly shifting to those becoming more active despite not having the SP behind them but it is the engagement they have which as the price of Steem falls becomes more valuable as it provides more access to SP over time.
