How HELLA broke MJOLNIR in THOR: RAGNAROK

So that thor ragnarok huh, I just watched it and its pretty darn dope.

We got to see Hulk on a new planet,

Thor’s new haircut

and Jeff Goldman with some toothpaste popping out of his mouth.

But what I really took me away from this trailer was how the hell did hella break thor’s hammer. It happens right at the start of the trailer for those who haven’t watched the movie yet so this aint a spoiler.

So, it is the setup for thors character in the film.We will have to go through hardships without the all powerful weapon he always relies on but how did she break Mjolnir ?? I mean isn’t it invincible. Well, I think I’ve found the solution so I though I’d explain this to you. Now to give some brief background history on the character of Hella. She’s the goddess of death in Norse mythology and feeds of the souls of following gods and asguardians for her power.

She rules the realm known as hell which is basically where you’re banished to if you’re naughty or dead depending on which case you’re put in a different area or feel. So, hella is the said ruler of this place since she is the goddess of death.

Also, in the comics she’s the daughter of loki but I think they abandoned that since well look at her now all so powerful enough to take on both loki and thor together.

But this is probably why she’s never seen engaging loki directly ever in the movie.

Now since you have the basic info on hella.Here’s how I think she broke mjolnir and I’ll try to keep this a brief as possible.Hella has a wide variety assortment of powers. Super strength,Disease immunity, a sort of healing factor and a pretty sick ability where she touches someone and they just’d just plopped down and die but the powers I will be focusing on in this article are known as the hand of glory and manipulation.Although I made up the word for the second one but let me explain what I mean by manipulation is that she can control astral artifacts and beings either living or dead so she is able to manipulate mjolnir so she can catch it and throw it back for a certain period of time which explains why she’s able to catch it in the trailer.

She isn’t worthy but she’s just using her power of “manipulation”. Now how does the hand of glory play into this ? Well this power is able to give hella immense strength in one of her fists and cause massive damage so what I think is that since marvel has already sort of changed the hella character they’re going to make her thors biggest threat yet so I believe this one-two punch combo of “manipulation” and “hand of glory” where she kind of crushes it gives her the ability to destroy mjolinir.

I might probably be looking too deep into this because whole movie doesn’t really explains it too but probably marvel just wants to convey that hella is so strong that breaking mjolnir needs no explanation.

Apart from that the movie has been really well directed by one of the best working at the moment and is taking chances which I like. I really loved the trailer and the movie turned out to a real solid one. I expected to see more of hell which is such a cool aspect of thor’s mythos and got exactly that in the spectacular battle of Thor and Surtur in the opening scene. People were saying Mjolnir will probably get fixed in the end of the film but the infinity war concept art shows thor using yarn board so maybe we wont see it repaired anytime soon. All in all I love the risk marvel is taking.
