10 Famous Rock Bands that have Appeared in The Simpsons

From the beginning, The Simpsons have been a source of social criticism through comedy. Over the years, and as the ideals and references of the new generations have changed, we have been able to see different versions of these characters. For example, when it was common to see a close family and even a message of hope in the classic American dream of the nineties, The Simpsons had episodes like "The Simpsons War", where Homer sacrifices his biggest fishing for repairing his marriage with Marge. When society became accustomed to the comedy of aggression, we got a more selfish Homer  and less clumsy willing to sleep his wife with a tranquilizer dart in the episode "Marge is crazy, crazy, crazy" and now that it seeks to restore a little the concept of family, but maintaining the absurd.

The appearance of famous people came to such a point that there was a time when they expected to see the cameo more than the episode. Devoting ourselves to music on this occasion, it is clear that we can even develop an analysis about the image and definition of rock, which has changed over the years, although The Simpsons has always tried to keep up. Festivals and musicians are not the same as in 1991, NSYNC no longer says anything to girls who have only listened to Justin Bieber, although the entertainment principle to a certain niche is the same. Here we bring you 10 rock bands that have participated in the series, so that you can see how things have changed since you were a kid out of tune by the mention of Peter Frampton.

1-Judas Priest

This British heavy metal band made an appearance in the episode "Steal this episode" of season 25. This time, Homer gets into legal problems when he discovers how to download movies online to do his own peaceful functions at home. The band sings "Breaking the Law" (although they change the lyrics to say "respecting the law") as they take Homer to the Swedish consulate to protect him.

2-Metallica

It is one of the most famous Heavy Metal bands in history. In the episode "The boy, the chef, the wife and its Homer", of season 18, the band has problems with its bus and Otto decides to help them, although they don't obtain any help because of Bart's fault he's left in shame with them, while they are singing "Masters of Puppets" with Hans Moleman.

3-Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth and Peter Frampton

One of the classic episodes of The Simpsons, in which Homer becomes Cannonball as entertainment, until it becomes a deadly work. The appearance of these bands happens during the festival Hullabalooza (an obvious reference to Lollapalooza), here we can see a generation gap when Homer does not understand very well Generation X that moves slowly to the rhythm of these alternative rock bands.

4-Blink 182

In Chapter 300, called "Emancipation," Bart decides to sue Homer for using him to make commercials for a product against bad breath and spend all his money. Bart spends a few distressing moments in his new apartment until he finds himself in a loft full of skaters and the Blink 182 rebels.

5-The Ramones

Again we enter the territory of the classics. In this episode called "The Bear of Burns" we have a melancholic Mr. Burns going crazy over the noise of The Ramones singing "Happy Birthday". The annoyance is such that Burns, confusing them, asks Smithers to have the Rolling Stones killed.

6-Red Hot Chili Peppers

This band, known for always wearing trousers, appeared in the episode of "The Drama of Krusty", in which the doll Gabbo steals the attention and the audience of the clown. The Chili Peppers appear because Bart and Lisa decide to help Krusty to look for famous personages to make a special  in his program. In this chapter they play "Give It Away" and end up singing in Moe's bar before a crowd, who happens to be just Barney.

7-U2

The Irish band appears within an ecological concept, because we all know how good Bono is. In this chapter, Homer seeks to win the election to be the new manager to collect the garbage of Springfield and goes to the concert of U2 to be publicity. But as Bono even has limits, the singer asks security to take Homer and beat him behind the stage while they sing "Pride (In the Name of Love)."

8-The Who

When Springfield splits in two for lawsuits with phonetic terminations, Homer and Bart go straight to The Who to steal their concert and take them to their now deserted part of town. The Who ends up breaking the wall that divides the settlers with the intro of "Won't Get Fooled Again."

9-The White Stripes

In this episode of season 18, Bart discovers to be a genius at playing the drums and ends up getting involved with a group of Jazz, which distresses to Lisa. Imitating their video of "The Hardest Button to Button" the White Stripes meet with Bart playing drums and begin a musical chase that ends with the band in a trash boat.

10-Rolling Stones, Lenny Kravitz, Elvis Costello, Brian Setzer and Tom Petty

A Homer sick of his routine is sent by his family to a rock camp in this chapter called "How I spent my summer vacation". Here, Homer and other Springfield residents take singing and dancing lessons with these rockers. The best? see Lenny Kravitz breaking the silence over the intimate parts of Kenny Loggins and Homer wearing the same rocker outfit.

Special mention to Green Day

Many are not yet convinced that they are rockers, some are not convinced that they are good musicians, but Green Day is definitely a popular band that resonates at a very specific time. Their appearance in The Simpsons: The Movie  had a similar note to the appearance of U2, in which the band is committed to the environment and suffers the consequences of the crap that endangers the city.
