THE DIARY GAME | (13/09/2020) | DAY 38 - "Day two in the blackout"
(silence.... silence...)
Dear diary
It's day two in the blackout....'radio crackles'... or is it?
As much as I'd like to write about the usual hustle and bustle, rushing to do chores and taking my bath in preparation for church service. Looking for my belt which always happens to get lost every Sunday morning and finally hurriedly wearing my clothes and bolting out the door. It almost feels like I'm on a loop honestly, every Sunday morning is usually the same story hehe.
However today was different.
It had rained all night, cold gentle breeze rocked my curtains and made my room all cozy. I was still half asleep, not wanting to get up. I didn't even realize it was a Sunday, didn't feel like one. The days seem to go by so fast, it's kinda hard keeping track of time.
My brother came and joined me in my room, turns out he was also guilty. None of us had prepared for service this morning and it was still raining. Besides the power outage was an issue to contend with. Thankfully I had Informed the instrumentalists I wouldn't be playing my sax yesterday because of the minor fault. I'm happy I did that right away, to avoid them putting faith in me just for me to disappoint.
It was well past 10 when I finally got up. I did the chores and my brother just sat still. We weren't going out so we didn't need to wash the car.
However we still needed to eat breakfast. we decided pap and akara (beancake) so we headed out to buy some akara.
My brother and I
It was still raining so I took a pic through the glass. The roads were really messy but thankfully we were able to get some beancakes.
We ate this with Pap, didn't take a pic though. The afternoon was very dull and gloomy. I had known better by letting my phone charge fully yesterday night when I put on the generator so I was well prepared for today. We both sat by our devices watching some series and chatting and debating some movies, normal siblings stuff when the unexpected happened.
The power was restored :) . I was actually shocked because when this kind of thing happens it usually takes about a week to rectify so yeah we were basically expecting a week hehe. Good thing it came earlier.
The light fluctuated a bit but was stable afterwards. We got a 14 day unlimited access on showmax so we spent the whole evening watching movies and series. The power supply lasted till midnight so I'm sure whatever fault out transformer had has been rectified.

Hi,
definitely you have a gift to write, I liked the way you wrote your diary.
Yesterday I had a blackout too, I am from Venezuela and honestly these blackouts delay my daily duties.
As you wrote in your post: Stay Safe!
Thanks for the compliment @helloego ...I guess blackouts are becoming the order of the day lol.
I have some venezuelan friends and they also attest to this, I hope it gets better for both countries .
Also I can tell you're kinda new to the platform...You should/could add the one percent and your country name tags to comments made on any diary posts so as to get more votes just like @njaywan did below.
It's very nice having you here my Friend :), steem on!
You are welcome @doppley
Blackouts are just the worst bro. We currently have one as I speak right now. I can't wait for it to finally be solved by our politicians. We have a lot of resources here in africa. It's only left with the right leadership to help us with its utilization. Wouldn't you agree?

I totally agree my friend, it's so frustrating at times. Africa is a blessed continent, lots of natural resources and very few disasters. It's like we've got the good stuffs but either under utilize or misutilize. Our politicians are all interested in amassing wealth hence the poor Infrastructure 🤦. I hope it gets better someday
Glad to have you here @njaywan...your thoughtful comments are highly appreciated :)
It my pleasure. :)
@doppley I was surprised that power was restored in your area.Transformer issues normally takes weeks or even months to be fixed. What a miracle!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
No thanks to the rain.it has stopped your visit to the church. However, the rain is doing its job.
Do have great evening.

It's really a miracle @samuel20 It seldom happens this way. Anyways I prefer rainy days to sunny days so it's all good with me.
Thanks for your comments, they're very much appreciated....glad to have you here :)
Our own transformer issue tool almost 6 months before it got corrected. I am just left adaft at the reluctance of power supply in my country and state. It's nice knowing some states aren't like ours.cheers 👻👻
I understand what it feels like sleeping while it rains,I personally enjoy these nights and can't agree with you more.
Those roads are really bad and with the rainnist just unbearable walking on foot in that kinda road. Great thing you guys had a car.
Have a nice day and look forward to your next post.

We experienced same thing last week and we thought perhaps it's due to the ongoing construction in the flyover or maybe the normal power problem cause whenever we didn't see light on Monday morning till 12 noon then we'll know we've got some problems but thankfully the power was restored after almost five days, can't really recall cause it didn't affect me(standby generator) we've always known our power suppliers to disappoint so it's not a new thing and always prepared for them. Nice diary I must commend.
