The Diary Game: DAY 4| 04 August 2020, Tuesday: I Found A Wallet And I'm Terrified

I started my day early again to prepare myself for work. Today is just another busy day but still, I am grateful to God that I have work until now seeing how many people have lost their job because of the pandemic.

The day rolled by quickly and it is time to go home. As usual, I rode the bus for almost 30 minutes and when I got down, I started to walk going home. I though it was a usual day for me, but never did I know that some eventful thing happened while I was walking home.

At the parking area, I saw a wallet laying on the ground. I hesitated to pick it up but the good Samaritan in me shouted inside my head to pick it and return it to the rightful owner. So, I picked up the green coloured Cartier wallet holding it lightly and waited for few minutes hoping that the owner will come the area to locate it. As it is summer time in the desert, it is just so hot even after 6:00 in the evening that I could not take to stand another minute at the parking, so I decided to go home to drop my things.

I never open to see what’s inside the wallet until I called the police hotline to report to them that I found a wallet. When the police officer over the phone asked the details like what’s inside in it, that’s the only time I open the wallet and searched for the most common thing to look for, the National Identity Card. But ooppps, instead of getting the National ID, I held the unfamiliar card that made me trembled.

Oh My Freaking gosh! I picked up a wallet owned by an Emirati (a local in the UAE) and he is a Police! So I told the officer over the phone the details of the wallet and asked them to collect it from at the earliest. They told me, they will come to my place after two minutes and indeed, they’re down our building after 2 minutes.

Aside from the important IDs and Bank Cards, the wallet didn’t have any cash in it and that made me worried. Knowing that the owner is a local police, he must have had a freaking CASH! It will be impossible as locals are rich in this country. What if the owner will think that I took the cash inside? What will I do? To ease my worry, I told the police where I saw the wallet, the time and emphasized to them that there were no cash inside it. The police told me not to worry anything and thank me for reporting the lost item.

After asking for my National ID card and mobile number, they told me that it’s okay and there’s nothing to worry about. Haaayyyy! This is the only place you will tremble if you see any lost items.

Gladly, the wallet was returned to its righteous owner and who knows what he is thinking. I just really hope tho that he will not insist that he got some cash inside cuz I do not know what to do about it as honestly, I didn’t see any.

And if you wonder why I do not have any picture of it, it is against the Law in this country to take a picture of any personal belonging things, accidents, fights and many more. I am just a law-abiding expat to this beautiful lawful country.
