Dear diary,

Today was full of experiences and memorable encounters that I won't be able to forget in a hurry. It all began with leaving the hotel at 1:00 am to the bus station to commence my journey back to Nigeria. I got to the bus terminal around 1:30 am and finally boarded at 3:38 am.

We left the bus terminal exactly 5:14 am and began our journey back to Nigeria. We moved from Accra to Volta Region and finally got to the borders of Ghana at Aflao around 9:24 pm. Our hurdles began at this juncture as we were at the same spot for over seven(7) hours. We later got access to Togo at about 5:00 pm.

Togo is quite a beautiful country. The beaches at the entrance of the land borders made our entrance more like a sight-seeing adventure. The sea was bright and blue. The sands at the shore beamed radiantly at sunset. We finally got to the exit borders of Togo as we drove through Lome. We didn't experience delay there as we had to leave under forty-five(45) minutes and got to The Republic of Benin (République du Bénin).

By the time we got to the entrance of Benin, we had a delay of about two(2) hours, and it was already nightfall. We had to start looking for an eatery to get some food as we were all starving already. We finally got suya and had some drinks with it. We left there around 10:40 pm and set out for Seme as we drove through Cotonou.

On getting to Seme, a settlement of Nigeria at Benin Republic's border, we had a long delay with the Nigeria Immigration Service as we had to stay for another five(5) hours. We finally got to Badagry at 6:46 am the following day, looking all tired and exhausted.

Upon approaching Mainland, Lagos, we met with heavy traffic and spent hours trying to get to Old Ojo from Badagry. We got to the final bus terminal at about 12:19 pm.

Another tragedy struck when the Nigeria Police Force arrested us the moment we entered the taxi we booked to take us to our estate in Lekki as they thought we were internet fraudsters. They held us for over thirty(30) minutes and finally let us go the moment they discovered that we were students returning from internships in Ghana.

The last straw that broke the camel's back was when our taxi driver missed the way. We began the journey from Old Ojo to the Island. After about two hours, we were already around Tafawa Balewa Square at Ikoyi. I got the shock of my life when I looked up from my phone and discovered that we had entered Apapa. My colleague was like, how did we move from the Island back to the Mainland? It was quite funny as we couldn't fathom the entire scenario that had played right before our eyes. Our driver was in shock when he discovered that he didn't get the right map coordinates. We had to use another phone's GPS to get the exact directions to our location. I finally got home at about 3:24 pm. I was exhausted and fatigued.

Today had a lot of experiences that I won't forget in a hurry. It was saddening as a journey that was supposed to last for about fourteen(14) hours we ended up spending over thirty-four(34) hours.

Its a goodnight from me. My eyes are heavy, and I'm beginning to doze off already.

Goodnight Diary!
