Steemians Speak Out About GrumpyCat -- Because Silence is Not An Option! -- Issue #2

We're back today with another chapter in the ongoing story of @grumpycat, a user who woke up one morning and decided his chunk of Steem entitled him to set policy on Steemit -- just by declaring, "This is what I want, so fall in line, or I'll hurt you." And everyone was commanded to obey. He calls it "Grumpy-compliance."

But not everyone agreed he should just grab the crown and declare himself King of Steemit because it suited his fancy. And so @the-resistance was born. You can read more about that here. We will have more to say on that subject, but today we want to showcase and honor the posts of brave Steemians who have chosen to speak out against dictatorship, tyranny and bullying.

This is an important moment in the development of Steemit. We at @the-resistance don't believe one account (and its sock puppet) with a lot of SP (and therefore a really nice upvote -- or downvote) should be able to hurt other accounts just because they don't do what he says.

Someone needs to speak out for the injured. Someone needs to say, "GrumpyCat, you don't get to make the rules here all by yourself. Other people have rights ... and voices. If there are problems, we need to solve them together, not just follow your orders. That's the way to build a healthy, functioning community."

This post -- and the previous one in this series -- presents some of these brave, independent-minded Steemians who oppose GrumpyCat's behavior ... and what they had to say.

Let's start here with an exceptionally fine and courageous citizen of Steemit.

Here's the catch: He's a blatant, reckless bully, and his actions make no sense. He has no conscience and has no qualms downvoting quality posts. Recently a @youarehope charity post, an introduction post, and the leader of #thealliance @enginewitty's posts. (We at #thealliance pride ourselves on quality, and he seems to have waged war with several of us.) This feral "cat" uses no discretion, if someone uses the wrong bidbot, they are fair game. He also upvotes his own comments. Bit of a contradiction there, eh? Not to mention he used @madpuppy to pay bidbots for @grumpycat's most recent post.

I'm not one to hide behind eloquent words and professionalism when you blatantly attack people simply because you can out of a spiteful disagreement. Beauty of this platform right? One can censor or be censored by other parties. You know what the difference is between us? My agenda involves leading by example and nurturing through love and a family atmosphere. You impose your will through fear and terroristic tendencies. Yes, you are a cyber terrorist.

I got up this morning grateful to find the power still on. The ice storm has stepped up its intensity after losing power for four hours yesterday, I’m plenty grateful to power, heat and coffee.

I’m settled in with a fresh cup of coffee scanning through the overnight Ginabot notices and come across three notices of flags from @madpuppy. You’ll recall that @madpuppy is the attack dog for @grumpycat who seems to take delight in bullying minnows.

He did it because she stood up to him, because she didn't back down, because she told him, "What you are doing is not good for Steemit; it is hurtful and wrong" ... and he also did it just because he could. 'Cause that's the kind of guy he is.

There are more stories to tell ... but we have to keep the length of this post reasonable. We'll be back with more when you've had time to consider what this one contained. They are stories of hurt and pain and flagrant injustice -- and @grumpycat / @madpuppy was behind them all. The most egregious one is so appalling I can't even bring myself to write of it yet. I need to speak to the person it happened to ... and see if I have permission to include it.

There are plenty of others. And we will keep telling of them. Because it is important that people know the truth in order to judge for themselves the merits of GrumpyCat and his crusade. In our eyes, this guy is no hero -- and we are showing you why ... with the facts and the experiences of real people with real lives he has hurt. Go talk to these bloggers. We are confident they will back up this post. We have let them speak here in their own words. You can judge for yourself.

The truth needs to be told.
