Latin GRAMMY Launches First Collection of Free NFTs on Tezos (XTZ)

The Latin Recording Academy today announced its first official collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The art was by Mexican muralist Juan “Quetzal” Fuerte who was chosen as the official artist for the 23rd Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards.

The event will take place on November 17, in Las Vegas, United States. Quetzal's work will be featured prominently in collateral materials and as an exclusive NFT before and during the 23rd Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards.

In partnership with OneOf, Web3's native decentralized application (dApp) for music built on the Tezos (XTZ) blockchain, the Latin Recording Academy will present a collection of NFTs with a series of drops.

The first NFT in the series is available for free on the OneOf website for Latin GRAMMY fans. Users who order a free NFT will unlock airdrops – blockchain deliveries – of exclusive content from the 23rd Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards, according to the announcement.

The artist says his mural, created for the Academy, reflects his distinctive style of making art by fusing everything into a unique perspective that showcases the energy of Latin music through the use of color.

The mural is on display in Morelia, Mexico, and a sister piece will soon be created for the GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles in November in an effort to provide access to local art and enthusiasm for upcoming Latin GRAMMYs.

“Art is food for the soul, whether visual or sound, and through this piece we have the opportunity to impact and transform the lives of those who see it here locally or in its digital form, planting seeds of thought and emotion that we hope will inspire future creators”, states Manuel Abud, CEO of the Latin Recording Academy, saying the artist murals and free NFT mark a series of firsts for the Latin Academy as they “bring the bridge between music and visual art to make both accessible to fans around the world.”

In the official art, the artist showcases a variety of musical instruments to illustrate the multifaceted Latin experience through the juxtaposition of bright and dark colors.

To have the opportunity to join and acquire your NFT, the interested user simply needs to access the Latin GRAMMY page on the OneOf platform. The release says that use of the artwork from the 23rd Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards requires express written permission from the Latin Recording Academy. Send requests to the contact email.

The Latin Academy will present the 23rd Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards on Thursday, November 17, 2022 from the Michelob ULTRA Arena at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The show will be broadcast live on Univision starting at 8pm (US Eastern Time). For broadcast times in other countries, please consult local guides.
