In the following days, however, it was not so colorful, there were some information that disappointed / upset the shareholders, and analysts were not impressed either. As a result, the share price of corporations from California fell heavily. The question was asked: a short correction or burst bubble?
Tesla is no longer the most expensive American car manufacturer, it is not the leader in terms of capitalization. Still ahead of Ford, but GM has retreated. For some, the current valuation will be a big surprise, and may even say that such a high rate is difficult to explain to the current situation of the corporation, its past achievements. However, we are dealing with the stock market, it is governed by its laws. Therefore, in just a dozen or so days, the shares traded more than 20%.
A few days ago (https://steemit.com/tesla/@emmalore/first-models-of-tesla-model-3-will-hit-customers-this-month) I wrote that at the end of the week, the first Tesla Model 3 would be off the production line. There is a small euphoria: the corporation is entering a new stage of development, and it is starting to operate on a mass scale. Shortly afterwards, the company reported car deliveries in the second quarter of this year and ... came a cold shower. The speech was over 22 thousand. cars. That's more than in the corresponding period of 2016, but not enough to meet the goals set out earlier. The corporation has found an explanation for the situation, pointed to battery problems, but not everyone is convinced: there will always be an excuse, and the corporation wants to produce hundreds of thousands of cars in the near future.
Another bad news was competition. Rumors have surfaced about BMW , which in a few months may show a rival for cheaper Tesla. Volvo went a few steps further, instead of rumors we had a clear statement: we go to electric motors and hybrids. It is true that it will take some time before the full transformation takes place, but it is inevitable that the start of new and old players in this segment will be inevitable. There is a question about the position of Tesla, for example in the Norwegian market, where today it sells a lot of cars: are the Scandinavians still so eager to choose an American vehicle when they produce robust electric cars? However, this does not exhaust the subject.
Tesla has argued over the years that her cars are very safe, guaranteeing the highest quality in this field. Meanwhile, the tests conducted by The Insurance Institute Highway Safety (IIHS) did not identify the corporation as the leader of the list, lacking the highest rating. This was interpreted as a problem with the seat belt. What is Tesla ? Disagreed with this opinion, the results of the tests were considered subjective and cited National Highway Traffic Safety Administration tests, a government agency where it fell out much better and got a higher score.
We see the beginning of bigger problems? Opinions will probably be split. There is no doubt that the stock price of Tesla has been inflated too much before, and without any clear basis. Elon Musk himself knew that. It can not be ruled out that the shares will continue to be cheap - who was to earn, already he did. At the same time do not be subject to panic, the manufacturer did not start to fall asleep. It's time to wait for the results of Model 3 production to see if the corporation is able to fulfill its promises. Worse results from one customer test will probably not divert you from your purchase (here, the car's waiting time may be faster), and the competition has to show its alternative to the American manufacturer's vehicles to speak of some competition.
