Death By Fire Is 72 Times More Likely In A Cybertruck

Okay, this is insane that this was allowed to happen in the 21st century.

What you are looking at is a Ford Pinto. If you’re unfamiliar, with the Ford Pinto was a very popular car in the 1970s that was notorious for having a fuel tank that could easily rupture and cause fires and then fatalities.

Ford Pinto has a design flaw. The gas tank was located on the rear end of the car. The slightest love tap in the back of the car could cause it to burst in flames. That led to 27 reported fire fatalities in its nine years on the road. If you want the statistics on that it’s 0.85 per 100,000 units, according to FuelArc. Nearly one out of every 100,000 Ford Pintos owners had a fiery end.

By comparison, you have a 0.2 in 100,000 chance that this could happen to you in a normal car. Regardless if it is gas-powered or an EV.

The legacy of these fuel system fires would haunt the Ford Pinto for its entire 10-year run, and they were so infamous that they’re still talked about today and cited and debated in numerous business ethics as well as tort reform case studies.

Elon Musk Built the Tesla Cybertruck As an Elite Apocalypse Experience

Well, The Cybertruck has been found to be 17 times more likely to have a fire fatality than the Ford Pinto. It has a record-breaking 5 deaths over the 34,438 Cybertrucks that are out there right now. That is 14.52 deaths per 100,000. It is a staggering 72 times above normal or to put it simply you have a 7200% increased chance that you will end up as a human BBQ pot-roast while driving a Cybertruck.

I bet that the people who bought this $80,000 truck didn’t know that they bought a lottery ticket with a 1 in 1377 chance that they would go up in a blaze of glory.

Remember that stunt Elon Musk did in his Cybertruck show? The one where you were boasting about having bulletproof glass on his truck?

Right before he broke it… Twice…

Tesla Demo Fail: ‘Transparent Metal’ Armored Glass Smashed During Cybertruck Reveal

Well, it turns out it’s a bad idea to have glass that is difficult to break when you are in a metal box that is on fire and the firefighters are trying to get you out. In the event of a fire or any emergency situation, this is a terrible thing. You want the emergency rescue people to be able to rescue you.

As a result, Cybertruck is 17 times more likely to cause a fire fatality than the Ford Pintos.

There’s this video from a while back of firefighters trying to break into a Cybertruck window, and this tweet is totally misinterpreting the video and bragging that it took three swings for the first crack to form and 12-plus swings to actually break through. Well in real life the firefighter doesn’t have the time to get to you while you are roasting in an $80,000 improvised oven.

Do you still want to ride this?” Tesla’s fire broke out again, and when I looked at the battery, it was ‘a shock in itself!’
Most of the time you have to get out of the car on your own, if you are able to that is. But even that is problematic in a Cybertruck. To make matters worse, if the Cybertruck loses power or is bricked, the normal buttons that open the door just won’t work.

When your battery catches on fire your car loses all power and that would be fine in most cars since in most cases the car door lock is mechanical. But in the Cybertruck all of the locks are electric. When your battery goes… You get trapped in a burning tin can and not only you can’t open the door but you can’t even break the glass to get out either.

But don’t get me wrong. It is not like the glass on the Cybertruck can’t break. It’s that it won’t let you out even if it does.

Cybertruck cars are notorious for the big flat plain of glass cracking with the mild of touches. You see every plain of glass on the truck is flat as a board and because of the odd angular shape of the truck, the windshield is massive. It is so giant in fact that it needs an enormous custom maid wiper. The problem is that because of the size of it and the flatness of it the design is very weak on a structural level.

So it doesn’t matter that this laminated glass has enough layers to stop a bullet. At least a few of those layers are going to crack because it’s too flat and too big.

That is what you get when you try to fix something that isn’t broken. You know we used to have cars with flat windshields before… There are very good reasons we don’t make them flat anymore.

Unlike most cars that had a very colorful exterior, the Ford was always black
