Ten Days of Reflection, day seven – Cat Figurine
I thought I would do something a bit different this time for the reflection challenge. This is a 3D rendering that I made using Bryce 6.
I had not run my old computer for a while I was feeling like playing around with it. I started it up and the first thing that happened is that Linux Ubuntu would not recognize the XP operating system any more and wouldn't let me boot into that. So I had to fix that. Then I couldn't find my copy of Bryce on the machine, I’m not sure what happened to it. I’ve replaced a few hard drives after crashes so perhaps it never got reinstalled after a crash. Anyhow, to make a long story short here’s the rendering, please enjoy:
The cat figurine was purchased in or near Egypt by my mom. She gave it to me as a gift and I have know idea who carved it. It is made of a softer looking stone which I think is marble. I took several photos of it and created the 3D model that is shown here.
This is a bit of a work in progress, there are so many ways of doing things with software nowadays. I might try to see if I can get better results in other ways. Reflections and transparency are fun to play around with for different effects using 3D software.
Thanks for reading! The picture was rendered with Bryce 6.
More about the reflection challenge can be read HERE
I nominate anyone with a desire for reflections to try out the challenge.
I really want to make a 3D image but I can't, because the study design is very hard, anybody want to teach I will be very happy!!
Thanks for sharing @lightsplasher
It is very hard to learn and study. I quit focusing so much on 3D graphics after XP was dropped and I could not justify purchasing all kinds of upgrades to high cost software. I might try to make some tutorials on open source software if I get the chance. There are many free packages that I would like to get more familiar with.
Thanks @lightsplasher,
If anything, you'd like to share the package are you referring to me?
omg...what a beautiful 3D art dear friend @lightplasher , i love your post,,, Really
Your art is unrivaled,,,

I like it...all time your post dear

I @resteem your post dear
That would be nice. Beautiful 3D and looking real like someone up there said. U like the fact that you think you can even do better on it. I'm picking up some art/software jargon here and hopefully will be putting some into practice, thanks!
Nice those things are addictive. Sometimes I feel like I spend too much time on here already. I used to use Blender a bit.
The price is right on Blender and it has improved a lot over the years. I've been trying to learn it better now that most of my other software is discontinued and or too expensive to update. I used to be really into it with client work in 3D graphics and other programming jobs. Alas, crypto has made me lazy but 3D graphics and software development work much better if you can leave it as a hobby imho, lol.
Indeed! Just like Gimp I am always happy to learn and use free open source stuff. You can sure spend a lot of hours on there! I enjoy it and it gives me a better appreciation of the work it takes to put together a huge animation!
wow, it looks really cool @lightsplasher, a very nice masterpiece. I've made some 3D images, but they are not successful. I have a lot to learn first for this. Therefore, I really appreciate your work, because I can not do the job. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! It is a long learning curve to get good at 3D graphics, there are so many different programs out there and they all take a slightly different approach to doing things. I find it hard to remember how to do some basic things unless I work with a program a lot. If you have the time and are willing, keeping at it will give you results. That being said, sometimes I get personally frustrated when the results don't come out as well as I would like.
I think Win XP users are forced to stop using the operating system. I am myself an XP lover (still using it) and I feel it's so hard to move on to Win 10. 😥
I triend ubuntu once but got confused using it. lol.
Oh, I haven't said anything about the 3D rendering.
I think it's perfect and looks natural, especially the water.
I mostly leave my Win XP computer off the network now so I don't have to worry about viruses. Actually it works fine for what I still use it for. My Ubuntu box is great for crypto and I use that everyday. Once you get used to it, Ubuntu is less confusing and I believe more secure.
Thank you!
You did very well, and this is very interesting to see. Three cat statues in the water, thanks friend for this post
Thank you! I'm glad you found it interesting.
You did a great job, when I first saw this picture I thought it's real! The cats look Egyptian!
cheers @lighstsplasher
Thank you! I think it needs to have some better looking clouds and water marks on the figurines to make it look closer to real. I do enjoy playing with different graphic programs, it is fun to see how things will come out.
I really want to make a 3D image but I can not make because of the limitations of my science .. !!
It is fun to get into doing pictures in 3D. You might try Blender it is free software but can be hard to learn.
That is a cool image! And a good one for reflections.
Thanks! Reflections are fun to do with a good ray tracing program.
Nice art cat
Good job friend @lightsplasher
Success always for job you
I upvote and resteem
