Tripura Sundari Temple in Tripura
Tripura Sundari Temple, popularly known as Matabari temple , is situated at Udaipur under Gomati District of Tripura which is at a distance of about 55 km from Agartala,capital city of Tripura. The temple is regarded as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas of Hindu pilgrims which was built by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya in 1501AD. It consists of a square type sanctum of the typical Bengali hut type. A lake in front of the temple enhances its beauty to a great extent. Thousands of devotees and tourists visit this temple everyday round the year. It remains fully crowded particularly during Dewali festival in the month October/November. Udaipur city is also known as “temple city” and “Lake City”.
